The Pactimo Ascent jersey is a slim-fitting lightweight option that's highly breathable, making it a very good choice for spring and autumn.
The Ascent is made mostly from a fabric called Quattro-Lite. It's a grid-structure polyester that shifts moisture outwards well and dries quickly.
Pactimo call the side panels 'mesh'. I wouldn't describe them that way. They are made from a very lightweight dimpled fabric – also polyester – that's highly breathable.
With lots of air getting in and out and no windproof panels, this is a jersey for cool rather than cold weather. It's suitable for those days when it's just a bit too chilly to go with short sleeves – so spring and autumn conditions, but definitely not winter temperatures. I've actually had this jersey since last October but it has been too cold to wear until recently.
This is a top that's designed to be race slim and both fabrics are stretchy, especially the side panels, so you can get a close fit without feeling uncomfortable (that's not me in the picture, by the way). There's also a generous length in the sleeves, which is something I can struggle with, so it's very unlikely that your wrists will be exposed when you're stretched out on the bike.
Speaking of the sleeves, the cuffs are elasticated so you get a close fit there. The waist is stretchy too, with a tacky silicone gripper inside that does a good job of keeping it in place. The full-length YKK front zip comes with a little metal puller that's easy to grab on the fly.
The three large rear pockets have slightly elasticated tops that help to keep all your stuff inside, but there's no additional zipped pocket for your valuables. I don't tend to use those, although that might be an issue for you.
One other feature back there is a button-hole style opening behind the middle pocket to let a earpiece/headphone lead through. You get a cord loop in the collar to guide it out the top of the jersey.
All in all, this is a good jersey for those days when you need long sleeves but not too much insulation. Personally, I'm not wild about the colour scheme but you might be a fan.
Verdict
Slim-fitting lightweight jersey that's highly breathable, making it a very good choice for spring and autumn
