At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

These elegant racing mitts from Swedish kit masters Craft are stylish and understated. At least, they are at the moment. I'm not sure how the gleaming white mesh will cope with a mid-ride wheel change or emergency chain splitting incident. Of course, if you're sensible you can always take them off and there are some handy removal loops between the fingers to assist you there. Alternatively, you could just buy them in black instead.

They're a lightweight summer glove with gossamer-thin mesh on the back to keep your hands cool and a tidy assortment of subtle gel inserts on the palm to aid comfort. I particularly liked the inserts. They don't look like much but being thin and distributed across a wide area, they do a better job of relieving pressure than thicker inserts which can end up concentrating pressure on a smaller area. There's no cuff, just a snug elasticated hem with a ridiculous 3in long multi-lingual label attached in case you need to look up the Czech for polyester. They are very comfy. In fact, you hardly feel you're wearing them... in a good way.

If I have a criticism it's that they feel a little flimsy and I'd be inclined to keep these for fair weather rides rather than everyday grunting about. Oh, and my wife kept shouting 'Shamone!' every time I signalled a turn.

Verdict

A quality glove for summer Sundays.

Just read a lot of mitt reviews as mine are almost worn out and Fathers' Day approaches. This is the only one that made me laugh twice!
