Five cool things coming soon from Douchebags, Fizik, Panaracer, Edco and Honey Stinger

Another selection of bike bits and bobs that we're testing at the moment, with full reviews coming soon...

The cold snap looks here to stay this week, but that won't stop us! Here are some highlights from our test pile this week, some of which might have to wait for warmer weather - especially a set of wheels that cost more than my car...

Edco Brocon disc brake wheels

£2,900

edco-brocon-disc-brake-wheels

These 28mm deep disc brake wheels from Edco are 1,500g for the pair and are so new, we've actually got few details on them at the moment. We do know that they're full carbon rims (as you'd expect for this kind of cash) with a 10k weave, with carbon spokes, and the hub has been 'specially designed' for increased efficiency. They're also tubeless-ready and available in a rim brake version too. Did they leave Stu wheely impressed? The review's coming soon.

Honey Stinger Ginger Snap waffles

£26.94 (box of 16)

Honey Stinger Gingersnap waffle

These energy waffles (the Dutch caramel kind, rather than the potato ones of your youth) are sure to "satisfy your taste buds and keep you going as an afternoon snack, during your favourite activity or go great with your cup of coffee or tea", say Honey Stinger. A layer of honey plus an infusion of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and molasses between the waffles should make for a tasty snack in theory, but are they really the bee's knees? The test report is on its way...

Panaracer Race C Evo 3 Classic Folding Tyre

£39.99

Panaracer Race C Evo3 Classic 700x26C

This is the 26mm version of Panaracer's stylish tan wall road racing tyre (if style's important to you in a tyre) and at 205g promises to be a light and grippy all-season option with minimal rolling resistance. Panaracer have infused their new proprietary Protite belt puncture protection and claim the cornering performance has improved over the previous version. It also uses the same AX-Alpha cord casing used on their popular Race A EVO 3 slick high performance tyre, with all the advantages of added extra protection for riding on rubbish/British roads.

Fizik Arione 00 Versus Evo

£324.00

Fizik Arione 00 Versus Evo.jpg

Yes it's the price of a bike, but this is Fizik's flagship perch. From Fizik's Spine Concept saddle shape generator the Arione 00 is a flat, narrow and long option, ideal for riders who are 'spinally flexible' and don't rotate the pelvis at all when they pedal. This top-of-the-range version has a high-modulus carbon shell and carbon braided rails, and despite weighing just 140g it also has a special foam compound added for extra comfort. Is it Stu's perfect perch? His test report is imminent.

Douchebags 'The Savage' bike bag

£625.00

douchebag florida

Another product that might make you wince somewhat when you see the price tag, but if it truly is 'one bag to rule them all' as Douchebags say then perhaps our tester can forgive them for the cost and the name a little bit... the highlight is the internal 'Roll Cage' that builds up as a frame inside the bag to fully protect the bike. It can carry anything from a fatbike to a roadie, and weighs a total of 11.8kg so you'll be within the sports equipment weight limit on all but the stingiest airlines. You can find out how it fared on a trip abroad in the full test report soon...

Jack has been writing about cycling and multisport for over a decade, arriving at road.cc via 220 Triathlon Magazine in 2017. He worked across all areas of the website including tech, news and video, and also contributed to eBikeTips before being named Editor of road.cc in 2021 (much to his surprise). Jack has been hooked on cycling since his student days, and currently has a Trek 1.2 for winter riding, a beloved Bickerton folding bike for getting around town and an extra beloved custom Ridley Helium SLX for fantasising about going fast in his stable. Jack has never won a bike race, but does have a master's degree in print journalism and two Guinness World Records for pogo sticking (it's a long story).

Any ideas when the review of the Specialized Arc saddle will be out?  Was on one of these ‘coming soon’ posts a while back.
