106 points, not bad, more than if I had stuck with the Dauphine I think. Once again tho so called tt specialists let me down. hurumph now for tommorrow. Legs are not too bad, but got a saddle sore, and one of my riders abandonned, so more work for the rest of the domestiques.
Looks like sacrifices need to be made to make sure not too many Dauphine riders left to swap over after Sunday.
Hoping Jack Bobridge will turn in a good performance - short course should suit him.
Apart from him and Cancellara I'm still Dauphine-focused.
Ha there's one transfer for tomorrow then thanks.
thefatcyclist Rabon has abandoned just to inform you
i dont think denvenys is a gamble, i wanted him, most likely to do well out of the domestiques in my opinion, but was too expensive.
Gone for sagan, cos i did not have enuf money left for cancellara.
Also went for ben swift cos none of the sprinters in the cd are going to score many points now, and he might get a few points in the tds.
And devenys as an outside gamble.
I wish i knew something about this sport.
ho kay here goes.
Kept in Wiggins, Vino, Moncoutie (because I think he will show today or tomorrow) Rabon because hes been a filler all along and Rui Costa.
I transferred in Hushovd because he can do a good time trial, but then I saw the great big lump in the middle of the course blimey....
After bringing in Voeckler, mini genius stroke, he is out in favour of Cancellara, which should be money in the bank.
Then the difficult bit. I had Castroviego, Bookwalter, Talansky, Sagan, Stybar and Grabsche on my short list.
Went for Castroviego because he is a brillant tt rider,
Stybar because although he is only learning his trade, this course looks made for him...I wonder if he will use his cyclocross bike or a TT bike.
However i think it is Grabsches birthday, but didn't want to sacrifice Cancellara for him.
This is Europe not USA so discounted Talansky and Bookwalter.
Sagan in the wrong section for non sacrificing transfers.
So the team is
wiggins
Hushovd
moncoutie
cancellara
Rui costa
Stybar
Castroviego
Rabon
Vinokourov
9 different teams so no easy 5 pointers.
Seemples tsk tsk
Cancellara, Greg henderson, talansky and martin velits for me. All the real decent TT guys are all rounders, and i needed to keep Vino in my team, so just gonna have to see how it plays out
I've gone for cancellara and hushovd too, and laszlo bodrogi
Right, whats everyone's transfers for the TdS looks like? mine go like this
Stage 35 IN:Christopher FROOME OUT:Jan GHYSELINCK
Stage 35 IN:Daniel LLOYD OUT:Konstantin SIVTSOV
Stage 35 IN:Fabian CANCELLARA OUT:Edvald BOASSON HAGEN
Stage 35 IN:Thor HUSHOVD OUT:Tyler FARRAR
In, out, in, out and shake it all about
Not that they should need explaining, but i will anyway
Hushovd past Norwegian and U-23 World Time Trial Champion
Cancellara past World, Olympic and Swiss Time-Trial Champion
Lloyd decent time trailing ability's in the past
Froome 2nd in last years British National Time Trial Champs and also 2nd in World Championship Time Trial (Elite group B) 2007, so a decent trailer aswell
So who've you stuck in and taken out?
oops yeah, gave some of them to voeckler
i'll do a recount. it'll probably be the morning...
Dave - far be it from me to question your maths, but can you check Vino and Voeckler's points from today? Vino looks like he should be 16+7+2+1=26. I had a crap day today and need all the help I can get!
Come on, if it was easy no-one would be having any fun
They're on now. sorry, we were hobnobbing at Bespoked.
Voeckler, eh. the little tinker.
Where's the points for today?
what do u mean by extra? there is the normal, 10 down 1 points for whoever finishes 1-10 in the GC at the end of the stage on sunday, but nothing extra beyond that
Ho kay, dat's what I wanted to know. Thanx
'zare ( is there ) any extra points for final GC class, could be crucial to decisions. Great game btw, especially tricky during this transition.
Foregot to add working out points to BUY these riders is a headache as well. Like a clean slate plz
Dismay! Frustration aggrevation Did anyone figure which day the 4 transfers would be most useful?
4 today is OK if you sacrifice points in Dauphine. 4 tomorrow is stupid because you sacrifice more points for perhaps scoring on mountain stage in Suisse w perhaps GC ppl
Possible 2 left for Dauphiné
4 on Sunday would be more logical after Dauphiné over!
My head's spinning!
I've swapped out Farrar for a bit of a wild card. 3 more I think. Think I will swap out one of my allrounders and 2 domestiques for the rest. Trouble is I fancy 2 of the allrounders in the TDS. dash it I could even just leave wiggo and vino an monco and vo
Good decision all he's good for is advertising glasses and falling off bikes.
I think it all depends on the time gaps from the TT in the TdS, if they are huge i'll stick to top guys in TdS and then the guys who are going to keep getting me points in the DL, Like Wiggo and Vino
yh, as to guarantee a full tds team once the DL has finished, you would only be left with 2 for the last stage of the DL, but i guess thats part of that tactics, i will probs leave 3 in the DL and then only have 8 for stage 3 of the tds, but i guess will look into that again after 2moro.
Yeah for the end of the DL into the 3rd stage of TdS because then you can maximise your potential for points
yhyh thats my risk, leaving people in and not having a full complement, it would be better if we also had 4 transfers from sunday/monday
I'm unsure for sunday, because monday we're only getting 2 transfers, So do i risk leaving a few in the DL like i want, maybe 4 and then lose out on monday with having only 7 in the TdS
Else i'm reading it wrong, 4 transfers tonight/tomorrow
4 Saturday/Sunday and then 2 Sunday/Monday??
yhyh cancellara is, im doing the same EBH out, fabian in. Yh im gonna cut bole out and put who i think might be the best sprinter for the TT.
Yh im thinking ive got 5 that should be up there for the DL, but the problem is who to sacrifice sunday, as the first proper tds stage is a mountain stage. therefore i may have to leave just 2 in for the stage in the DL sunday
Yeah i'm gonna keep Vino and chop EBH, is Cancellara doing the TdS? Think thats a good pick for a TT, Then cut the sprinter i have for DL and stick in someone from TdS and Finally a DS for the TdS
With it being mountains left for the DL i'm pretty sure i have enough men who will be up there everyday to keep points coming in
youve done well today, much better than me. erm sivstov 18th, da costa 20th, EBH was well back, i had him too. yh i had scorers with vino, cadel, hermans and riblon and moncoutie in 16th.
Now for the changes for the tds, i think i know who im gonna change, its tough to pick tho, im struggling on a lack of rider data from such a short ITT tomorrow, as most of the decent ones are all rounders, and we only get two all rounders and vino is staying put in my team
