All arrows down today... down 83 on the day overall!
Still 4 riders left
75th overall for Purists, 230th for Paris-Nice Purists
Four downward pointing arrows today.
It's all gone tits up - or KNEES up, I hear he's pulled out? He'd never pulled in!
2 riders have gone grey.
It'll take a big, extraordinary day tomorrow to get me anywhere near the top 100.
Ho hum...
I've just back-pedalled at an alarming rate today. Worst ever result. Ever. Lucky to break 150th. Wiggo & Van G would need to romp it tomorrow to save me now.
WTF is Voight doing coming second? Did he not fall off on the descents?
KNEES! KNEES! KNEES! Can you hear me KNEES! Get off your knees KNEES! Get pedalling - get something on the board!!!
Haussler 3th and Jonas Aaen 16th today
Wow, this stomach bug is killing my team. I'm down to 4 riders! Thankfully Valverde is in the hunt and I managed 50 points on the day.
69 points, once again I've effectively been crippled by not picking Wiggins, that was a very poor selection choice on my part to choose Taarame and Roche over Wiggins and De Gendt
Voeckler LIVES!!!!!!!!!
He's finally off the mark.
As for KNEES - wtf? I've just checked and his middle name is 'No'.
Onward and upward today slowly moving toward top 50.
Agree, one day classics and short tours are fairly predictable, the hurt begins on a grand tour when potentially half your squad could be gone after the first week, then the temptation to draft in subs starts.
drheaton - you're where I want to be the end of the week so keep moving up and leave some room for me!
There's far more luck with purists. . . if you pick you squad and the GC stars crashes out on day one, like Tony Martin, he's going to act as a DS, and the purist squad can't react.
That's the reason I love the purist comp so much, you've really got to think about the big picture when picking your team and not just the headline stages, it is a lot down to luck though. Picking a ds who hits a bit of form and tries to get into every break like Jeanneson in last years TdF can be make 200 places difference in a big tour, not picking Wiggins in my purist team is the difference between where I am now and 1st place.
Happy with my Purist team so far, 53rd in the PN and 46th overall but the gaps to 1st are huge! I'm 120 pts from 1st in the PN and 1100 off 1st in the overall! How can I be so far back already!
My only hope is that people start to move to the normal transfers game during the Giro, TdF and Vuelta to thin out the field a little
My Da always told me to back horses with good names.
A cyclist called Christian KNEES surely was born to be a winner?
Not a single, solitary point! And he's my most expensive DS.
Come on son - get the finger out!
On a lighter note i've broken into the top 100.
Only 41 points today but still climbing toward the top 100.
I'm sort of half expecting a stage win by both Wiggins and VanGarderen.
Has Voeckler decided to walk - bit worried by his lack of form so far, was counting on him for a few gutsy finishes.
Anyhow, I've still an eye on top 50 finish. I'd be happy with that.
Well, with Boonen, Valverde and Gerrans I managed a 351 place jump in the purists group today. Unfortunately I', already down 2 riders... so we'll see.
I was asleep when I picked my team...
My purist team got a paltry 40 points today
Still climbing up the board but without Wiggins I'm not hopeful for the whole comp. Hoping for Valverde and TJ van Garderen to stay up their in the GC and for Roche and Taaramae to go on flyers when we get to the real hills.
Climbed up both the pure leave and the overall!
I reckon it's Wiggin's tour barring another tumble.
He's looking very strong but hopefully he'll keep up the pressure rather than playing it safe.
Now i'm hoping for a typical Voeckler gutsy stage win during the week and one by VanGarderen would be very welcome as well.
Scratch that - 87!
Pauriol is looking like a prospect.
