The race may have been rescheduled to an earlier time because both the LA Clippers (NBA) and the LA Kings (NHL) had playoff games yesterday evening. Those wouldn't have been scheduled until the past month or so, probably after the ATOC had been planned.
TOC stage 8 (Dream Team) 110
Thanks
I was doing well and expect a good points tally.
Seeing as it was a sprint finish which finished after deadline I think there would be no real benefit to nullyfying the stage or throwing out transfers made after the stage start.
Let's mark it down as a cock-up and learn from it. The ToC is pretty much the only race outside of European time (other than the two Canadian 'classics') so this isn't a mjaor problem and something to try and get right next year.
Personally I wasn't really fussed by the ToC, running a another stage race alongside a grand tour seems pointless as it's never as fun or interesting as the big race, although the fact that most of stages had pretty much the same result didn't help. Having to make transfers in the afternoon/evening was a pain too and a lot of people seemed to keep missing the deadline.
Gkam - It's 7 hours from UTC/GMT but we're on summer time as well so the difference is 8 hours so the race finished at 19:37 BST - ie after the deadline but not sufficiently.
According to the live tickers, at 19:05 they had just started the finish circuits, the break had 20 secs and was being chased. I suppose you could have got points for the intermediate sprint 7 mins before the deadline but it wouldn't have gained you much.
I guess the other thing that annoys a bit is that this league was paid for, albeit not a lot. Nonetheless you did charge for it and still no points listed for the final stage.
I'd imagine it has something to do with it being a Sunday night and the last stage.
Why isn't the TOC stage 8 data up yet, its been how long now?
Oh well, I don't know, but according to the official site they kicked off at 10.10 thats all i'm going by, i watched the highlights tonight and saw the 1 hour 27 when Sagan won the race, then just looking at the time zones.
I could be wrong though. But regardless of that, the deadline should have been before the stage starts are per every other stage/race
I watched it live and it definitely finished after 7:30pm.
I don't think i am.
Race started at 10.10 local time and took 1 hour 27 to complete. so 11.37
Current local time in Los Angeles
Standard time zone: UTC/GMT -8 hours
Daylight saving time: +1 hour
Current time zone offset: UTC/GMT -7 hours
So add 7 hours onto 11.37 and you get 18.37
Deadline was 19.05
It seems that it was always set out at that time, I just had a double check and looks like it. I think it actually finished at 11.37 their time, so 18.37 our time, still leaving 30 minutes before the deadline for the stage. It started at 10.10 their time, so 17.10 our time, The deadline should have been 17.05, so IF Dave can do it, he should wipe out any transfers made in those two hours
17.05-19.05 and even things up for those of us who were totally unaware of it being run so early
You're an hour out with your timings. The race finished after the deadline.
Agree Gkam, I did my transfers this morning when I did my Giro ones, as knew who I wanted and knew i wouldnt be about. But i didnt realise it would be so early either, and i guess dave didnt either? Did they move it early for any reason? (such as bad weather forecast) as you never see a final stage that early in europe no matter how short, always aim to finish at the same time as the rest of the stages, anywhere between 3-5 depending on the race, not 11.30am.
combative is most aggressive, I believe. I really doubt they'd give 10 points to most courageous when that rider has some days just been a political pick more than anything (for example, Leipheimer won it for stage 1 just for racing; and I forget the rider from Radioshack who won it for being a cancer survivor). Worthy reasons for a jersey to be sure, but not worthy I'd say of 10 points
I didn't know this. I thought I was watching live. As for late transfers, surely Dave would reverse only the transfersmade during and after the race took place, and leave the scores for everybody else.
Must just watch and stay away from the web now.
Good call, Any transfers made after around 5pm our time then, but then that takes away from anyone making changes after that time thinking the stage was being run at the time they have been all week and race finishing after the deadline.
The race finished before the deadline, It finished around 11.30am their time, which is 18.30 our time
If this is the case and people have benefited from that, I'll not be happy. Will wait and see people's scores before i make any judgements
But if its the case that people have made changes knowing the race result, I'll be calling for scores to be nullified as there will be an unfair advantage for people who were unaware of it being run so early
Also, i want to clear something up thats been bugging me all week with this tour. The scoring, because it will effect me today
But the race give out two awards for this
"Most Courageous Rider"
"Most Aggressive Rider"
So which one is getting the 10 points?
What time was the stage run?
I'm looking now and the deadline was after the race finished wasn't it? because the deadline was 19.05 and the race finished aroun 18.30
I haven't got a clue, as I avoided the web as i expected the Giro highlights to be on eurosport at 9.15, turned on and they wern't. so i thought oh i will just look on cyclingnews for the result and noticed no live text for the ToC and then saw below Gesink has won the ToC. So was defo finished before 9.30, but how long before i don't know
As for your other question, I noticed that, and I haven't been checking the points as to who got it yesterday, but i believe atapuma scored 48 points, of which only could have been for the stage finish, so guessing he may have got the 10? he was awarded most aggressive rider i think. Also cant remember how many points horner scored and whether he was given 10 as well?
So it could well be, one, both or none being awarded it
My team;
Sagan
Boonen
Ciolek
Haussler
Kulge
Hanson
Boivin
Pipp
Mannion
Is that actually your team, or did you see the result by accident like me?
No, that was a joke.
