I think, in fairness, if you signed up then you acknowledge the fact that it's an extremely time-consuming competition, where regular checking is essential. Whilst, so far, I have paid full and regular attention to forum threads and email correspondence I admit that at some point during the season I may be unable to log-in/have Internet access etc. it goes with the territory, im afraid. Those complaining need to move on. These are very early days. Praise the great things about the game and give it the time you can afford.
Totally agree Bob,
another thought I had was that anyone who picked a team based on Saymn before the change of race didn't have a full rider list anyway (it was about half done tuesday night), and also an extra day was added, so anyone who may have come on to check points expecting to see them for Saymn would have seen it hadn't taken place and still would have been able to pick a team.
Id say probably 19 out of every 20 players wouldn't have been caught out. and for those caught out it was unfortunate and we did what we could in the circumstances
It was a bit annoying but there was plenty of warning and the reasons for all the changes were fully explained.
I'm sure some people couldn't make any changes in time because they were busy or such like but the same could apply to every stage. For the players who did enter, i.e. me, it would be frustrating to have spent the time to pick a team and lose the points. It only took 5 minutes to pick Sagan and eight random others and get a decent haul of points.
Why not try the Forum Users Mini-League Dean?
League Name:Forum's Scorum's
League ID:76157
This is the first time I have used the forum, I will have to check more often I think
I think it has gone into my spam. I log on all the tiem to the website. Is there anyway this can be shown on the main site page with updates?
you're down as subscribed to them. so not sure why they didn't arrive, maybe went into spam?
if people aren't getting the information on the game via the channels that are set up, we might need to look at more effective ways of communicating things that happen. at the moment we have dedicated emails, there's the forum and the @roadcc_fantasy twitter feed. plus we tweet anything major from the main @roadcc feed. what else should we do?
To be fair I havent had any emails about the changes, is this normally shown on the main Road.cc home page?
no, they'd be sent to your email address that you registered with, unless you'd elected not to receive them.
did you not get the game emails or see the posts on the site then? because there were plenty of both.
nope, it's not ideal. it's unlikely to happen again though, to be honest. certainly it wouldn't happen with a stage race and the rest of the day races are ones we ran last year (with a couple of additions for the autumn classics) so we know what to expect.
Thanks for getting abck to me.
Its just frustrating as I have been doing quite well. I managed to find a quite upto date start list on the Tuesday which I used and paicked 3 out of the top 6. However for that team to then not gain any points due to the change and non of them taking part is very frustrating.
Although the Camaoire has similar start lists to the 2 weekdn races I had 0 races as I had based my team on the Belgian races and change ready fro Strade duringt he next window. My team I picked yesterday morning for Strada would also have gained points yesterday as due to riders chosen. These would have been the riders chosen also for that race if I had known of the change.
the changes also ahve a long term effect die to transfer structure as well as I know have places taken by riders not riding in Italy where as I would have had a full team if the changes had been clearer. This would have been ok as I took this as part of my stratergy to gain as much points as possible in all races, but that ultimatley resulted in no earlier points.
Thanks
Dean
I'm not a Premium, but this sounds fair to me... I haven't been able to play, but I did find all the changes dizzying! Without wanting to upset anyone I think it would fair to remove the points for these competitions and just count the races that were totally identified in the calendar... Just thinking out loud here...
one race got swapped, and one got added?
stay away from roundabouts then
Quite.
Alls I can say is all the changes in the Early classics were done due to conditions out of our control.
Basically KBK was canceled, so Roma Maxima was added (sunday 3rd) and emails about this were sent out monday I think, nearly a week in advance.
Then Le Saymn was changed as we did not have a full startlist, so how can we run a race without a full startlist? Gkam even rang the organisers the day before and still they couldn't tell him who was riding, so we did try. We would have had people moaning that they didn't know certain people were riding had we gone ahead with it. (I would have picked Bazzana but hadn't the foggiest he was riding Le Samyn)
And as you can't delete a stage once a competiton is open, it was easier to add GP Camaoire, as that had very similar startlists to that of the two italian classics at the weekend, again emails were sent out as soon as we could.
