Strppied and regreased everything. The LH side definitely feels a little 'grittier' when spinning the bearing by hand. Reassembled, and about 2 miles before the tick was back. Ah well, new bb it is.
Thanks for your help guys!!
If you change it for a Hope or Chris king you will also need to buy adapters in order to fit without causing expensive damage. This is because Truvativ cranks are thinner at the spindle on the non drive side than other cranks so the hole is slightly smaller. Raceface & Shimano B/B's won't work at all and Truvativ or SRAM B/B's will work no probs.. Again this is assuming you have the original SRAM cranks..
sometimes the cups just work a bit loose. I've got rid of clicks by taking the cranks off, cleaning, re-greasing and refitting the cups nice and tight. I use copper grease on parts that don't move.
I think I get it now. Any 68/73mm ext threaded bb will fit (with/without spacers)...?
You could change it for a Hope or Chris King if you want to upgrade, but if the original lasted well then just get the same again.
Wonderful!
Cranks are the same. I have the tools, and I'm confident changing it, just wasn't sure what I should change it for.
Does it have to be that BB, or are there equivalents?
Thank you!
Presuming you haven't changed cranks and are still running SRAM Rival then you'll need a Truvativ 68x73mm GXP B/B.
You can change it yourself providing you have some grease, an 8mm Allen key and an external cup removal tool.
Hope this helps
sorry, that wasn't what I meant. Mine's definitely a screwfit.
To be honest, I didn't know a bb30 was specifically a press fit, I thought it had more to do with shell width. I guess it is a wider shell, but with the bb inside? Man, everyday's a school day...
If it is a BB30, its not a screw on job and NOT for anyone who knows nothing about bottom brackets.
Just have a quick squint here http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/workshop-how-to-service-bb30-press...
