Amstel Gold Race

Ok, I'm early but we teachers are still off in North Yorks, and this is a good distraction from planning and marking.

Looking at draft team options for Sunday and there are currently 23 Dutch riders listed as potentially riding. Whilst a Dutch rider hasn't won since (E) Dekker in 2001, statistically they're the most successful nation in the race, with 17 victories. Then it's the Belgians with 11, Italians 6 and others 3 or fewer.

With Sagan as the exception, I'm confident in fielding 8 Dutch riders who could do well. I'm sure they won't all remain in my team, but could this be a year for a 'home' victory? Mollema, Terpstra etc...

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

Foiled again by the transfer window closing before I could get a team together. I think I had a whopping two active riders on my roster and apparently getting up at 2:30 AM isn't early enough to get in before the window closes. 2

Could always do it a couple of days before..... 7

That's not always an option when you have a newborn and recovering momma to take care of while getting unpacked in a new house and supervising construction on your property! 4

So the break guys are De Troyer, Pliuschin, Astarloza, Vanoverberghe and Vansummeren...

I may be wrong, but, I want to say that I think you should add Nicolas Vogondy (Accent Jobs) and Klaas Sys (Crelan-Euphony) to your break guys... I'm pretty sure they joined the guys you have in the break before the halfpoint of the race...

I thought those two were there at halfway as well...

Disaster is all I have to say

34 points for both of us TER....the only upside for me is that it's double my score for the Amstel last season!!

Indeed, my gambles didn't pay off. Voeckler and Dumoulin, could have had Valverde and Gerrans instead, nevermind aye. May put them in for Fleche 39

Good answer! 1 You could always share your account password with someone you trust and have them update it for you! 1 I know I've called up a buddy - who happens to be single with no children, no girlfriend, no dog and no hobbies - while I'm on the road and asked him to login and change my team around! All it costs me is a couple of beers every once in a while... Sad, 'cause it sucks to lose out like that! 1

Dave, this would be a nice time to pull out some analytics! 1 Can you tell us how many teams had Kreuziger as part of their roster?

Is there a way that maybe there could be like a Stage Analytics Page, maybe? Where, after a competition, or better yet, after each stage, you could see how may teams - NOT (!) what percentage (!) of teams, just in case!:) - had the winner and the rest of the scorers?

I know it's a lot to ask for, but it'd be kind of cool, especially on days like today where I wonder if more than 10 teams actually had Kreuziger in them! Hope you consider it! 1 Thanks! 1

Well, this what I mean, a lot (!) - more than 90% of teams? - probably had Sagan on their teams... I just think it would be cool to know that! 1

I've got
Standard

Sagan
Gilbert
Mollema
Henao
Vanendert
Quintana
Weening
Betancur
Paterski

Bring in Purito for the next one. Not sure how bothered he'll be about this one, more of a warm-up I think! Mollema has got good form and something has to go right for Sky eventually. Henao in good form as well. Glad Vanendert is not in the break, he can do better than that. Reckon it'll be Sagan Gilbert 1 2.

Forgot about purist!

Click on competititions and then spring classics and it should show it.

The Giro D'Italia,Giro Del Trentino AND Spring classics are all currently open and, when you log in it takes you straight to the Giro D'Italia.

By the looks of the posted teams J-Rod,Cunego,Weening 1-2-3 would do very nice thanks....whilst any combination of Voeckler,Gerrans,Ulissi and Kwiatkowski would be a blow.

Well, I missed the Spilak boat then. I'm looking for good performances from Vansummeren, Ulissi, Bouhanni and... Elmiger!

I've developed a soft spot for this IAM team, even more so if Cancellara makes a move there next season (revelations from Spanish doctors hopfeully notwithstanding).

Yes I like Iam too - had Lofkvist in my team until his injury. Elmiger got me good points in some races last season, could be a good outside bet!

Standard

Pieter Weening

Philippe Gilbert
Sergio Luis Henao
Rui Alberto Faria Da Costa
Rob Ruijgh
Lars Boom
Simon Gerrans

Purist

Pieter Weening
Carlos Alberto Betancur
Peter Sagan
Philippe Gilbert
Sergio Luis Henao
Rui Alberto Faria Da Costa
Alejandro Valverde
Maciej Paterski
Andy Schleck
