Is it really as narrow as 20mm? That really seems very narrow indeed...
I have two old steel Peugeots. I replaced the seat post on one, and if I recall correctly bought the post from Decathlon. As it happens, the one I bought was marginally too narrow. It came with two shims to increase diameter of post, but both were too thick. Cutting a panel out of the side of a beer can, I was able to make a perfect shim.
Not sure if that proves to be any help, but good luck!
Cheers Tjuice, I had it measured by a bike shop near my dad's (where the bike was in residence) and they measured it with an old micrometre. Last night I double checked with a cotton tape measure (highly accurate, I know) and it is closer to 24mm, so I'm taking it to an engineering workshop near where I work to get a proper reading. I really hope it is a 24mm, but that means I've wasted about 2 hrs on the tinternet looking for something i dont need
Nevermind, that's what it's there for.
If it is around 24mm, then it's probably the same as the one on my Peugeot. And a 23.4mm Decathlon post plus beer can shim will do you right. Keeping fingers crossed for you!
