'Cllr Jones said: “There is an element of drivers who don’t treat the road with respect. While I accept the argument that it is safe if driven properly, unfortunately the road has a 60mph speed limit that catches out too many motorists." '
Save that fresh fruit!!!!
But the unfortunate illuminated retro reflective bollard before the lamppost was wearing hiviz...
Interestingly, I can't see any reference to there being any requirement for VED for trams. Something I'd never considered before, and as we all know if we all paid £10 VED for our bikes, drivers' attitudes would change overnight.

Since we're on 1678 comments, I assumed it was a case of "Cap'n, she cannae take any more", but Lo! here we are without having to select newest first. Long May it continue to 2,000 posts.
Lol, I included a pic as I know not all have a twitter account.
The Somerset Live account says a woman, the older of the two, has died.
“An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened, as well as anyone who may have captured the collision or moments leading up to it on dashcam footage, to please come forward."

Range rovers rolled by dumb school run witches
Sadly true. I've walked, ridden & driven along rural roads all my life. So many drivers assume that because a road isn't busy then nobody is likely to be coming the other way (or that whoever/whatever will somehow find room to pull in to let them through).
No number plate, though, so how could the driver avoid it?!
That's bloody awful, can't imagine what the family's going through.
So many drivers assume that because a road isn't busy then nobody is likely to be coming the other way
Or, if they're drivers of massive tractors, they just don't care- these things would crush a big Transit, so they don't even think about cyclists. They can always use the apparently impregnable defence: I didn't know I had hit him because I didn't see him
Indeed - but we all seem happy accept this.
Just prove common sense
Can't be purchased with riches.
Cars are a menace to all on two wheels
My lid saved my life is what Dan Walker feels
I know where that is, I think.
It's one of those villages that has a road which is a lot busier than it ought to be running through the middle, and there's a section where the houses go right up to the carriageway (no room for a footway or even something like a hard shoulder).

140 New Waltham homes left without internet for over a week after car crashes into box
And now self driving cars are taking out our communications!

Well, these modern houses, built out of cardboard aren't they, nothing to them.
I think that need more hiviz.

Car crashes into tram after driver 'takes wrong turn' off busy Greater Manchester road near IKEA

Ah - we can't have pedestrians or cyclists - our ancient street (now road) is too narrow. Handily though they had the foresight to make it just wide enough for two motor vehicles...
But unlike a cyclist, they didn't actually go through a red light.
They clearly had brake failure and did the law abiding thing to make sure they complied with the lights - surely there can be no other explanation?
"What's that stupid idiot doing walking in the road? He deserves to have my 2 tonne car pass him with inches to spare at a full 30 mph"
Plenty of room for a shared footpath alongside a prioritised section of road - that's 5 metres wide.
And they could lose 1m off the thickness of that hedge, too.
BMW crashes into garden in Netley Abbey
The crash, near the junction of Woolston Road, reportedly happened just before 2am on Thursday.

Bristol bus smashes into house after being hit by car: https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/bristol-bus-smashes-house-after-7937671
I don't know why, but the car driver fled the scene on foot after the car collided with the double-decker.
What I find more puzzling is that there was a bus in Bristol that could be hit - I thought they'd gone extinct.
