Absolute tits. You would hope they are charged the cost of the rescue and prosecuted for causing a nuisance. The cynic in me says it won't happen because shitty motorists get a pass.

Drivers - violence never far away, is it?

Following a parking-related incident, the offender, a man in his 30s, went up to another man's car and punched him multiple times...

I love a cars stuck in fords compilation, really love it, one of the best ways to waste time on the Internet. But never has it made me want to go sacrifice my couple of tons of metal to the great god of rufford... what the hell is wrong with people.

Everyone down to Totnes in the next few weeks - roadworks making Fore Street pedestrianised. By the way, the big old road closure in Brixham, the one that's going to kill off the town, started this week.

Nigel added: "I'm not particularly in favour of pedestrianisation. I'm in favour of traffic management and calming measures. People park near our shop, come and shop with us and traders nearby and get back in their car..."

Hmm, I've never been a trader, but all this reliance on super easy/ fast turnover car access?  I guess for some products, location is really important - like ice cream. But I if you are offering something really good, not available on-line, people will come.

Gosh, imagine all those buses safely transporting 10, 20 or 30 people.  "Not a car nut" he claims, oh and he's not local, but why let that stop you giving an opinion?

A flurry of incidents reported in the Shropshire Star in the last 24 hours or so.

- a one-vehicle crash occurred on the A49 near Stokesay soon after 4pm yesterday afternoon.

- A car ended up on its side outside a primary school in Oakengates, Telford yesterday morning.

- Last night a drunk driver crashed on the A41 Prees Heath roundabout near Whitchurch.

- In the early hours of this morning a car hit signal poles at Emstrey roundabout near Shrewsbury on the A5 dual carriageway. Highways Agency had to close lanes, which predictably caused long queues and delays of up to 37 minutes this morning. The poles are there because temporary lights are still in place after another f*cking idiot wrecked the signalling system in October.

- A man died after his car crashed into a tree at 7.40 this morning.

- A car rolled onto its roof near Bridgnorth at 8.40 this morning, another single vehicle incident, no mention of a driver.

Also, yet another car gets stuck in Walcott Ford in Worcestershire. (twitter)

I like the bland snark from Network Rail: "bridge strikes could be avoided with due diligence."

Cars abandoned in floodwater on Stony Lane in Christchurch.

poor old drivers - assuming you don't run into yet another watery hazard, it's a nine mile detour to avoid this spot - imagine weighing it up and deciding to chance it, there's no helping some people.

Question: I have no idea if car insurance normally covers this sort of thing.

Newspaper (and driver) misrepresents 'Driver fined for going through red light' as 'Driver fined for giving way to an ambulance'.  I seem to remember someone on here recently mentioning how drivers commonly think they're entitled to go through a red light after giving way to an emergency vehicle, as though they have completely failed to understand the purpose of the red light.  Somewhat oddly, the driver blames his error on his having had to wait for another car behind the ambulance to go past.

Six crashes at Wokingham town centre junction leave people 'scared' to walk outside homes

"There are many older residents in this area, some of whom are scared to walk on the pavements outside their own front doors due to the speed of traffic and the frequency of collisions at this site. In the most recent example, residents were walking along the pavement just moments before the incident.

The renewal of a railway bridge is going to cause gridlock:

(Local Facebook pages are full of people trying to reinterpret what 'Access Only' means, to suit their own agenda; conspiracy theories - the crack in the bridge is fictitious/they're only renewing it so they can run loads of extra freight trains; 'but emergency services', 'how will I get the kids to school', etc. etc.)

https://www.buxtonadvertiser.co.uk/news/transport/public-pressure-forces-network-rail-to-update-major-whaley-bridge-repair-plans-3964315

In my experience, many drivers interpret 'access only' as 'its fine because I want to go that way'.

Hmm, it's a 19-year-old car and the interior is now waterlogged because she didn't bother to stick, or get her partner/kids to stick, a binliner over the damage for 24 hours? Sounds like somebody is angling for the "so much damage it's not worth repairing, we'll replace" angle? Also, according to the DVLA, no vehicle with that reg plate exists, so there's something decidedly fishy going on...
