I too have been playing (just for fun - I'm not interested in prizes) as a "premium" player since 2012 and I'm very sad to see that the game seems to have been abandonned after the Vuelta without even the courtesy of an e-mail to current subscribers to explain what's happened. I shan't renew my road.cc subscription if there's no active fantasy game to play - it was the only reason I subscribed in the first place.
Im afraid the writing has been on the wall for a few seasons. with a very heavy heart I will probably do the same.
ditto
It really is incredibly frustrating when, having read many of the comments, the appetite to play is there but the game seems to be slowly ebbing away. I appreciate that it is currently run by volunteers but could not some of the subscription money be used to pay someone to run the game? I know we are not talking huge sums of money but it would hopefully make the time and effort required worthwhile to somebody. The game could just cover World Tour races to make it manageable (that is how it started off this season anyway). I would offer to help myself but I have no computer skills. I don't even possess a computer other than my trusty iPad!
It must really be a difficult undertaking trying to get accurate results up in a timely manner but I feel the very least subscribers deserve was either an email after the Vuelta telling us there would be no more races to save coming back and checking all the time, or a message at the start of the year saying that the number of races was going to be quite substanially curtailed.
I look back now on the game from just a few years ago when there were the resources to run games on races in both the men and women's World Tours- now we don't even get World Champs, Lombardia or San Sebastian.
Its just a pity running the games take more effort than whacking up yet another close pass video...
I've played the game for many years (best fantasy cycling ever) and have been involved in admin (setting up comps and scoring). This year however I decided not to play all comps, so withdrew somewhat from admin, although I did do some scoring. (When the sun rose Down Under). As a matter of course I always recorded pertenent results for all stages, so from that base, it probably took half an hour to score.
Yes, I'm disappointed Dave hasn't spelt out his intensions. I've not heard from him for a few months.
Maybe if anyone is interested in volunteering, a forum topic could be set up.
I would consider helping out.
