Ghost Peloton spectacle plays to thousands in Leeds (+ video)

Light show with cyclists and dancers is one of centrepieces of Yorkshire Festival - film coming soon

A former brewery in Leeds played host at the weekend to two performances of Ghost Peloton, one of the flagship cultural events forming part of the Yorkshire Festival ahead of the visit of the Tour de France in July.

Around 2,000 people attended each performance of the show, which combines a light show with bicycles against the background of a projected film at the former Tetley Brewery’s Waides Yard.

Thirty cyclists, clothed in special light suits, took part in the spectacle which was put on by Phoenix Dance Theatre, which is based in Leeds, arts organisation NVA and the sustainable transport charity, Sustrans, reports the Yorkshire Post.

The performances were filmed and a video will be released shortly before the Grand Départ of the race in Leeds on 5 July.

You can see some of Friday’s performance in this video report from BBC Look North, and below is the trailer that was originally released ahead of the weekend’s performances.
