Right, we’ve waded through the 1220 comments you left about what you like most about autumn cycling which included having to read POEMS (note to self, never, ever, ever ask people to do that again) but the psychic trauma has been worth it. We have a winner… and because the standard of entries was so high a couple of bonus runners up too who will be getting some roadcc socks.
Our Vulpine Schwag Grab podium is filled by the speakers of two universal cycling truths and one rather personal truth.
Almost but not quite for robbiezhaorobbiezhao for masterful use of the sympathy card with “The cold rivals that of the heart of my wife” - until you realise that it’s not really that cold at this time of the year, even in East Anglia. (Maybe we should send her some socks too.)
Socks also for tells-it-like-it-is “I just love wearing tights” from wrevilo but somehow it lacks the poe… magic of our winner the tells it like it even more is:
“Shining torch through the fog/mist whilst making light saber noises. Obviously…” by Mattclimb
Yep, that's autumn!
Our winner and runners up have been informed - those who posted poems about nature’s paintbrush turning the trees the colours of their fave beige Vulpine shorts - your names are on a list. First offence, but don’t push it eh.
Thanks to Vulpine for a fab competition, thanks to all of you who entered, commiserations to the 1219 of you that didn’t win, but there WILL be another schwag grab along soon.
=====================================================================================
The whole caboodle is worth more than £500 (£502 to be precise) and includes Vulpine’s:
Original Rain Jacket
Cotton rain trousers
Long Sleeve Merino T-shirt/base layer
Padded Merino Boxer/Boyshorts
Storm Cap
Dogtooth Merino Silk Socks
We’ll pick the lucky winner next Monday, usual Schwag Grab rules apply.
You can find out more about Vulpine's autmn/winter range at www.vulpine.cc
Good luck!

Crisp clear mornings with the rich colours. Go on pedal a bit faster!!
Cool sunny mornings on tourist free roads in the Purbeck hills.
Crunching through a pile of dry leaves
Better temperature control, amazing light and countryside smells. My favourite time of year!
Best thing about autumn rides is the long shadows and the glistening light
There are many beautiful, poetic reasons to love riding in autumn. But the real pleasure of autumn riding is in no longer having to apply sunscreen, nor to think about hair removal, until spring.
I like how the cooler weather puts me in the mood for more relaxed rides out. I love when you get a nice crisp, bright autumn day, and the air somehow feels more fresh!
Erm, wtf? I just want some free stuff.
I love the low orange sun and the mist hanging in the fields. That and the fact it's not winter yet so I can still ride my bike without 20 extra layers of clothing!

The colours of the trees, the coolness of the air and the open road in front of you
its not winter.
I love autumn as it give me a chance to wear all my vintage
Merino wool jerseys.
Against the elements: be that wind, rain, cold, they all start to appear - some of the best and worst riding conditions can occur on the same ride - and you are ready!
The changing weather, because sometimes those long summer days seem to last too long.
The smells!
Pie after Tuesday night training
The 'clean slate' of starting a new cycling year, with new aims and objectives, or just for fun...
It makes me feel Belgian.
Cross season! What's not to like about lugging my road bike around in circles, in a muddy field in Essex?
Nothing beats setting off on a ride on a crisp autumn morning, enjoying the cool sunshine with a hearty pub lunch as the goal!
The wet days when nobody else wants to be out on their bike and you have the place to yourself
riding on the cool mornings with sun coming up over the hills.
it's dark, wet and cold ...yet you're made of sterner stuff !
I ,ove the dark, cool mornings with no traffic on the roads at least until i get to Hammersmith Flyover!!
Early cold crispy starts, great countryside generally to yourself, gradually warming up to a sweaty fulfilling ride. Feeling great for the rest of the day.
great those sunny cold days with the leaves falling
Autumn cycling for me means raiding the closet for those warmer cycling garments that I didn't think I'd see so soon.
because I pretend it's the Spring Classics, and my little 25km pootle becomes Paris-Roubaix
Perfect temps and beautiful leaves falling all around me!
