Real bike porn: adult stars lead sex-themed bike tours in Berlin

“We thought about a bar tour, but everyone does those”

Visit any major city these days and chances are you will spot a group of people on a bike tour – but Berlin, the city that inspired the movie Cabaret, has one with a difference – it’s themed around, sex, and led by two porn stars.

Adult movie actresses Paulita Pappel and Poppy Cox led Times journalist Will Hide – we’re guessing at least one of those names is a pseudonym – on an xxx-rated, two wheeled tour of the city, and it seems they stopped whenever they saw a red light.

Pappel and Cox – who herself organises the Bike Smut cycling-themed, erotic movie festival –   feature in films by director Erika Lust.

“We thought about a bar tour, but everyone does those,” said Pappel. “What we want to get across is that we’re human beings. We want to talk about our work and why we do it, making porn that is both fair and safe for women.”

Hide says the tour, which began in the trendy (has it ever not been?) district of Kreuzberg took in a sex shop, a gallery, a gay cruising spot and finished up at a bar, all the while exploring the city’s sexual heritage.

“Berlin is a very open city and has been a centre of sexual liberation for years,” said Pappel. “It’s a huge sexual playground and we want to explore that with our guests.”

Not too much, mind – the booking page for the tours says explicitly that they “DO NOT involve any kind of sexual interaction” – so don’t bother asking for your €500 back if you don’t get any (you can commission Lust to direct you, partners and friends in your own porn movie, but that’s another matter altogether).

For a less sex-themed view of cycling in and around Berlin, take a look at Laura Laker’s report on her recent trip to the German capital.

One would hope they did stop whenever they saw a red light.   Cyclists who ignore red lights get us all a bad name.
