Chris Hall has cycled at least 107km every day since December 16. He also has a full time job. The retail designer is aiming to cover more than 11,550km in just over three months to raise awareness for the Pace Centre in Aylesbury.
The rules are that at least 107 kilometres must be ridden every day. It can be done on the road or on the turbo, but nothing can be rolled over. No matter how the distance is covered, it is all being uploaded to Strava.
Hall says that the sheer logistics of trying to find the time to cycle is one of the biggest challenges. Each day he gets up at about 4.30am and rides before work. Whatever distance is left over, he has to cover after he finishes.
On day one, he knocked off at 11pm and found himself needing to do 35km before midnight.
Day 39 was another tricky one. He said he got so sick that he couldn’t even leave the house.
“I had to stay off work and I was going between the bike and the toilet for two days. All I wanted to do is curl up in bed, but I knew I still had to get the distance done. It took me nine hours to complete the distance on the turbo one day. I physically had no energy to turn the pedals.”
Unsurprisingly, given some of the hours he’s been keeping, Hall has also had to do a lot of riding on his own. Tuesday March 28 will be the 103rd consecutive day he’s ridden at least 107km and he’s inviting people to come and join him.
“Like most mornings, I'll be lapping counter clockwise at Regent's Park. If you fancy joining me for a chin wag and a couple of laps, I'd love to see you there.”
If you want to meet him, you can find more details on his website.
The Pace Centre is a school dedicated to transforming the lives of children up to the age of 18 with motor disorders such as cerebral palsy.
Hall explained: “Each of the 107 children at Pace face daily challenges. Whether it’s waking up, getting to and from school or inside the classroom, every element of their day requires complex planning. But seeing what Pace enables them to achieve, it’s just incredible. I want to make more people aware that schools like this exist and that they need funding to keep going.
“I knew I wanted take on an endurance challenge which also relies on careful daily planning. The number 107 has become special to me, I even wear it on my jersey. So riding for 107 days just seemed like a no-brainer.”
So far, Hall has raised almost £3,000 via JustGiving. If you’d like to donate, click here.

Personally I would have picked a different time of the year or maybe a different country to do this challenge.
Chapeau Sir, hell of a way to set an extremely impressive Eddington number
Top man, top effort. Hope to get out with him this weekend.
