If you need more motivation to hit the indoor trainer and fire up Zwift, then the company’s Ride With Reason fundraising drive is back. Through it you can help raise money for World Bicycle Relief, Qhubeka, Great Ormond Street Hospital and former cyclist Adrien Costa who sadly lost his leg in a horrific climbing accident.
- Get started with Zwift
Ride With Reason starts on 5th November and the first week will be focused on raising money for former cyclist, Adrien Costa. Adrien, one of America’s most promising talents, sadly, he lost his leg in a horrific climbing incident while climbing in Mono County. Thankfully he was found by two climbers and his life was saved by doctors. Unfortunately, they had to take the decision to amputate above the knee. The Go Fund Me page was set up by Costa’s former team Hagens Berman Axeon Cycling and has already raised $128,000 to help in his rehabilitation.
Zwift is challenging you to climb 400m for Costa between November 5-11, do that and you can unlock the exclusive Ride with Reason shoes and a donation to Adrien to support medical care and rehab for Adrien Costa.
The second week, 12-18th November and you’ll be able to Ride with Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka, a charity that fundraises to provide bicycles to communities in Africa. Bicycles help people to travel faster and further, and to carry more. This means they can get where they need to go and do things that are difficult without transport, like fetching supplies, travelling to school or work, visiting a clinic, or providing emergency help after a disaster. A bicycle is a tool that helps people move forward. Complete two designated group rides this week to unlock the Qhubeka Cycling Cap in-game and Zwift’s donation of 500 bicycles.
Week three (19-25th November) is the turn of the Gordon and Tana Ramsay’s Foundation in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. Every day, 619 children and young people from across the UK arrive at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for life-changing treatments. The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation is helping to give seriously ill children the best chance for life and helping to make GOSH an even more extraordinary place. The partnership is raising funds which will go towards helping the hospital to provide world-class care for young patients and their families, pioneer new treatments, have the moscutting-edgege equipment and support the redevelopment of the hospital to provide state-of-the-art facilities. Burn 1,000 of calories this week and unlock Ride With Reason glasses and Zwift will make a donation of $25,000 to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
The final week of Ride with Reason month (26th Nov to 2nd Dec) is centred around World Bicycle Relief (WBR), the fourth year Zwift has partnered with the charity. WBR aims to mobilise people through ‘The Power of Bicycles’, providing them with Buffalo Bikes. WBR focuses on rural areas of developing countries where helping communities overcome the challenges of distance can help them thrive. Many students in rural Africa walk 10km or more by foot each day to attend school, for a total of 50km per week to access their education. Ride 50km in this week and you’ll unlock exclusive WBR gloves in-game and Zwift will make a donation of over 250 Buffalo Bikes to WBR.
For those people that complete all four Ride With Reason challenges there’ll be a full Ride With Reason kit to unlock.
