Bristol teens arrested following spate of bike thefts

Arrests follow successful police appeal to reunite several stolen bikes with owners

Three teenage boys from Bristol have been arrested following a spate of bike thefts and burglaries in the city and surrounding areas.

Avon & Somerset Police said that a 15 year old and 17 year old, both from St George, and a 17 year old from Staple Hill, had been arrested on suspicion of seven counts of burglary and one count of theft.

The 15 and 16 year olds were also arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs.

The arrests were made on Saturday and followed an appeal by police to trace the owners of a number of bicycles suspected to have been stolen.

Officers say that the appeal resulted in owners of bikes from Bath, Clifton, Downend, Hanham, Nailsea, Portishead and St George all coming forward to identify their bikes.

Police added that they are currently in the process of reuniting the owners with their bikes.

The three suspects have been released under investigation while police continue their enquiries.
