A series of summer rides around Bristol has been organised to introduce newbies and experienced cyclists to the delights of Britain’s first Cycling City.
The Bristol Cycling Campaign is leading the rides around familiar and not-so-familiar areas of the city to encourage riders to tackle it with confidence. The pace will be leisurely and the routes easily accessible.
Discover Bristol By Bike rides will take in all points north, south, east and west, starting in different parts of the city and finishing in the more outlying, greener suburbs.
The next ride in the series, on July 25, will explore Clifton Village and the Downs and the final event, on September 5, will be a treasure hunt.
Rides organiser Steve Kinsella said: "The aim of the rides is to show participants how easy it is for all people to cycle through Bristol, explore the city, discover new sights and use routes safely that could easily be used on a daily basis."
Philippe Cazalis, rides leader, Bristol Cycling Campaign, said: "We are very excited about this new concept for enjoying your bike and getting to know your way around Bristol at the same time. Everyone can join in. If people want guidance on riding in traffic or with adjusting their bike, we will be there with skilled help."
