Gloucestershire Police have issued a witness appeal following a bizarre road rage incident in which a woman, believed to be the female passenger in a car, assaulted a cyclist for riding too slowly on a quiet country lane - the incident was filmed probably by the driver of the car in which the woman was a passenger.
Police don't know the identity of the woman or the middle-aged male cyclist that she is seen attempting to punch and kick and would like either protagonist or anyone who knows their identity to come forward. It is believed that the incident took place on on Saturday January 28 on the B4425 at Ampney Coln near Bibury at aroud 12.25pm. On that day a woman called Gloucestershire Police to report that she had been assaulted by a cyclist who had been holding up traffic - if that woman is the same person in the video, she may need to explain to investigating officers the apparent discrepancy between her original report and the scenes in the video. According to the police the contact details she supplied were incorrect and subsequent attempts to trace her have failed.
In the course of their enquires officers have seized what they believe to be footage of the incident posted on Youtube. In the video clip a red haired woman can be seen running in to shot while being filmed from a car traveling which is traveling behind an eldery cyclist in flat cap, waxed jacket and wellies on a a singletrack rural road. The woman, dressed in what appears to be all black lycra then tries to push him off before kicking and hitting out a the rider who fends off the blows.
If her anger was caused by the cyclist blocking the road there is a certain irony in the fact that the final frames of the video released by the police show the car, whose driver is filming the incident simply driving around both individuals who are still in the middle of the road.
According to their witness appeal investigating officers have been working to identify the individuals, but to no avail. They are now turning to the public for their help.
The individuals captured on the film, or anyone who witnessed the incident, are asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 187 of January 28.

Not sure why so many previous comments have been deleted, but here's a recap:
The man on the bicycle was deliberately obstructing the highway and committing an offence. The lady who attempted to remove him from the highway was therefore doing a public good and should be commended. If she is prosecuted for assault, then so should the cyclist for obstructing the highway.
If, as reported, the cyclist was a hunt supporter who was deliberately obstructing traffic, then it is arguable that his is the more serious offence. What if, in the queue of traffic behind there were people whose nearest and dearest were on their deathbed, and he was preventing them saying their last words to their family?
To be honest, I'd be happy to donate to a fund to support this young lady's defence fund.
Having watched this for the second time I don't think the man on the bike is actually that old. He's just got grey hair. Mid-40's max. As he appears to have a shouted dialogue with the attacker he's obviously not deaf either. I still don't hear any horns though. To show we're not sexist, the comments about fighty-girl's bottom should be balanced with the observation that she's got nice hair too.
Cheers littlelegs; suddenly all sympathy evaporates for the twat on a bike. Occasonally come across 'the hunt' on my travels and I don't know who are worse the hunt followers or the anti hunt people; if 'the hunt' is what this is all about. Glad I watched the video; she has a lovely arse
the rider is giving cyclists a bad name, i'd have pushed him off also.
[[[[[ Yes, Cervelo....I think I'd have assumed he had a mech-prob, and quickly slipped his chain off to examine the snarl-up, and then while he was oiling his fingers putting it back, I'd have accidently let all the air out of his f-tyre, and then--oops!--stepped in his front wheel--"Sorry, old bean!"--and then abandoned my well-intentioned efforts and thrown the "bike" resignedly over the hedge. Honestly, some people just don't want to be helped. Yours, etc., W.Mitty.
P.R.
Full video is faintly hilarious. Dare I say that the guy cycling is kind of symptomatic of the way hunters think they own the countryside...
That's not the B4425. The 4425 is a fast ex-A road with two lanes throughout (except over the bridge in Bibury itself). Looks like the right area though.
watch the full video it puts a completely different perspective on it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Odt2NZxbtps
No view one way or the other but its interesting how you can watch a small bit of film and form an opinion based on that alone with out knowing the full facts behind it.
Just a thought.
Very much so. I'm surprised the two old ladies in the following car never honked their horn to get past him, but certainly lends credence to the idea that this was not a spoof.
The cyclist was being a real tit and while maybe didn't deserve to be 'assaulted', definitely needed to be moved out of the way.
Going by the gear they're wearing he looks more likely to be pro fox hunting than her. maybe there's a back story that explains her behaviour but she certainly doesn't have any favours done to her by this clip.
I'd say that longer video puts a rather different spin on things…
New story, Return of the ninja woman 2 on the way.
[[[ The sub-tuggo on the "bike" is lucky it wasn't me in the car following him---I'd have leaped out and offered him my severest frown, before sprinting back to the safety of my polluting old stink-vehicle. Bah!
P.R.
I'd love to have seen the poor guy on the bike just bang her out, frankly. Equal rights and all that. Riding along, minding his own business, and attacked by a Topshop window dummy.
Have a little look at this - full audio - seems to have been something to do with foxhunting and it was filmed back in January http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Odt2NZxbtps
Ok Zeb, I took the bait and went to the daily mail!
Most of the stupid comments are at least downvoted. Some are monumental:
"it's quite obvious she was trying to jog past him and he ws doing his best to not let her past! Why? Is this guy mentally ill or something? It's a good job it wasn't me or i would have pummelled his head in, arrogant t**sser!!"
So they assaulted a cyclist, filmed it, reported the cyclist to the police and posted it on you tube...now i am depressed. If they send it to 'you've been framed' they could get £250. But was he assaulted or not? Only one way to settle it....Fight. Lets hope they get caught; would be good that they are prosecuted with their own video

And I'd have kicked him.

Seriously Is it April Fools?... Omg if this is for real i'll try and eat my CHAIN...
she can beat me up if she likes...i don't mind..tell me where you are and i'll come piss you off on my bike
Funny that the attacker was in head to toe lycra
Is it possible to launch a private prosecution of individual police officers for wasting police time?
Not only police time - what about all our time as well?
Aha, yeah, I thought spoof but I was sort of wrong, the video wasn't telling the full story.
Trust the Daily Mail to show the edited version.

Well, that might prompt a bit of a re-think!
Wonder if the Daily Mail edited it to show the cyclist in a more arrogant way? Would they do that? Would they? Really?

I concur with dodgy: spoof.
Definite spoof video, I'd put money on it, surprised none of the other commenters have said the same.
She pulls her punches, holds back just the right amount of aggression.
Reminds me of that other spoof video of some cyclists fighting on a bridge and one of them is 'pushed' off into the river below, he jumped more like.
Was she trying to live up to the stereotype of someone with red hair?
She's a nutter.
I thought the first bit was a hair shampoo advert .... wonder what she uses? Lovely bounce and colour
You have to feel sorry for this people
As for that country lane being a B road, you've got to laugh, though I guess the little darlings might get lost otherwise

I never saw Emma Peel do this before! Seriously, I do not know what is so sad: the facts or the daily mail comments?
it gets sadder by the day ... !
