Angry with Lance? Trade in your Livestrong bracelet!

Charity offers recycling and replacement service for yellow rubber bands

A cycling charity for cancer is offering disillusioned Lance Armstrong fans the chance to trade in their yellow Livestrong bracelets for an unsullied replacement.

Cyclists Fighting Cancer are offering a service that sends yellow bracelets to a factory in the USA for recycling and replaces them with a Cyclists Fighting Cancer 'Keep Pedalling' blue wristband.

Just follow these simple steps:

1) Remove Livestrong wristband
2) Send it to us with a stamped, self-addressed, envelope
3) Add a small donation if you want
4) Recieve a Cyclists Fighting Cancer wristband in return
5) Wear your CFC wristband with pride!

This latest fun to be poked at the disgraced cyclist comes in the wake of a Souith Park episode in which supporter queue to have their wristbands removed.

In this trailer, Cartman says: “I can’t believe we all got duped. I’ve been wearing this stupid thing for months.”

School counsellor Mr Mackey is more conflicted about the situation, though. “I don’t know what to believe in anymore,” he wails, as his bracelet is given the snip.

It’s not the first time Armstrong has been given the cartoon treatment.

Previously, he has voiced himself in an episode of The Simpsons in which he appeared alongside muppet Fozzie Bear.

He has also appeared as a rabbit – really – in an episode of the kids’ series Arthur.

The portrayal of him in South Park is rather less sympathetic.

I did things like this as a junior school kid... but I grew out of it. This Armstrong stuff is becoming tiresome, replace it with something about cycling

Not sure if some of these comments are relating to the video or the wristband amnesty? However for clarity, Cyclists Fighting Cancer is a UK charity that gives bikes , specially adapted trikes and tandems to help children affected by cancer aged 2-18 with their rehabilitation both physically and mentally. These awards make an extraordinary difference to their lives.

The purpose of the amnesty is nothing more than a promotional campaign to raise awareness of our work and to show that there is a very positive story here in relation to cancer and cycling after months of negative ones.

Simples!

This is a good fix for the Livestrong bands (I have a small stock of them somewhere will send the lot in!).

However, the big question is Dodgeball going to be re-released with Armstrong removed? His dead-pan delivery is not funny any more. Nominations for inspirational sportsperson to replace him in that critical scene welcome.

Idol (hero) worshippers have it coming. It should be about the cause not the messenger. If you can't tell those apart, you need help.

These people complaining about Armstrong seem very strange to me.

Honesty and decency are obviously not characteristics you have ever possessed, I guess? Otherwise it'd be pretty clear.

For me it was the repeated winning and repeated denials. I hated it that his life was a lie and that he bullied people from letting the truth get out.

I couldn't laugh at the YouTube link. I understand the jokes, but I don't think the man understood. Besides his opening gambit was about Lance putting money towards cancer research, his charity does cancer awareness, whatever that is. I've even been onto his website and cannot really understand how they spend all that money.

I don't like being duped (and never was by Lance) but he harmed competition/cycling/sport.

These people complaining about Armstrong seem very strange to me. They convinced themselves that a "sport" performed for money was really a sport. And now when they've had their illusions shattered they blame Armstrong rather than themselves. It's very much like going to a prostitute then being so disappointed when it turns out she really doesn't love you. People who blame Armstrong are the same as those who would blame the prostitute.

So doping is the fans fault? That's a new one.

Does this apply to all professional sports then? Why just sports? We all have to earn a living somehow.

Troll muchly?

I think he/you are right. I guess some people will have seen him as a role model growing up and will feel cheated though so its hard to let him off. My boyhood hero was Arnie, I was under no illusions as to what he had taken to get where he did however.
