My first proper road bike - I've been riding a Giant Rapid 3 triple hybrid since last August. Got this B'twin Alur 700 with 105 groupset and carbon forms from Decathlon at a bargain price. Well chuffed with it so far! Just have to get used to a compact, drops and cleats now... 1

Current ride, Cyfac Nerv, 105 groupset, Ultegra Calipers, Deda finishing, heavy Shimano wheels, but it rides so much better than my old triple.

Hola Peeps,

I'm a new member and this is my first post, therefore it's only right that I post a picture of my steed. 1

Here's my new ride:

Ribble Sportive 2015: Ultegra; Deda finishing kit and Ksyrium Elite S wheels for £1500.

Rides very well and weighs 7.6kg

This feels like a MASSIVE step up from my Giant Defy 1.

Thanks!
This is indeed in part due to the camera angle, however I do have the bar dropped in a more old school fashion rather than pointing upwards as it is very poplar these days.
As for decals they only shine in a camera flash. Otherwise wheels are completely black which I like very much too! Reflective decals make me more visible at night. You can never be too careful!

The Summer bike. Bianchi Infinito cv Chorus. The wheels are not FFWD's but some stickered up Far Sports. These only get used on calm days as they do tend to get blown around. The bike usually has a set of Mavic R-SYS SLR's.

That is utter filth - I love it!

How do you find the 2015 Campy groupset?

I love it.

I have 105 on my winter bike and had SRAM Force 22 on another. I prefer the shifting on SRAM and Campagnolo to that of Shimano which I find too vague. I prefer that solid clunk that you get with the others that leaves you in no doubt that you have made a change. I would say though that the SRAM always felt too tight as though the cables were over stressed.

The Chorus just feels right to me and also has the advantage that you can make multiple shifts both up and down without having to repeatedly move the shifter.

The only downside is that the thumb levers can be a little awkward to reach from the drops on certain bars. I believe that the thumb levers are a different shape on Athena but you you loose the multi shift on down shifts.

Divergence from the theme - but I feel that Campag is a bit marmite. You either love it or hate it. Must say I prefer Shimano. You have a better feel for the changes rather than the clunky Campag and no problems shifting on the drops. Don't start me on double tapping on SRAM.

Nice bike. Just out of interest, have you considered cutting the top of the stem off?

I've got Campag 10 speed, Force 22 and 105 10 speed.

I personally find Shimano mushy, and actually Campag the smoothest in travelling up and down the cassette, with despite the more positive shifter operation. Never found to be inhibited by Campag's thumb button on the hoods or drops! In fact I find it much more ergo in terms of the feel of the hoods and braking. I also have found it needs less care and maintenance than Shimano.

SRAM is the noisiest and most 'positive' groupset I've used but damn the shifting is so damn good. Never skips a beat and the front DR - lack of trim is amazing.

Ultimately groupset debates are pointless - good kit works. Ride what feels good, to your budget, weight, whatever.

Everybody loves a good Bianchi. Here's mine, the pack leader. I can't find enough expletives to explain quite how good a frame this is.

Yes they are nimble and easy to throw around the corners aren't they!?

Admiring your brave choice of Lotto Jumbo colour coordinated tyres, very fine between love and hate on that one, even more so than the "girl's bike" comments I get from non-connoisseurs!

Gum-wall Vittoria Corsas, there are no finer tyres. 1
