That's for hitting the pink I guess?
Who Hit Cav? He was in pink...
Bouhanni wasn't close enough to get one of his headbutts in!!
livestrongnick was last poster when I made the difficult decision on which thread to pick and went for the highest GC....yes I really am that sad
....and indeed at fault because the thread creator was TERatcliffe and he trails obutterwick by 2 points.
Confused?
So am I.....still we are in Limoncello country!!
Its a valid point, however in many respects its easier, as apart from GC points etc which you could pick based on those positions for any stage, for a TTT you are actually picking based on a team rather than an individual, so you are picking out of 23 teams rather than 207 riders.
I guess the one difference is that there is only a 1 point difference in all point scorers, rather than the higher placed teams having a greater points difference, so I do like Drheaton's idea of 15,12,10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1
Your point of scores being lower by comparison are generally evened out, especially over a grand tour, as your low scoring day today of average scores say around 50/60, a stage where the big guns go off and take mountain points etc, as well as the win, results in scores generally over 200, where a bad day costs you more.
Has the deadline gone yet? Anyway, my team is below - made 2 changes and brought in Wurf and Visconti for the guaranteed 9 points, plus we'll see if either of them goes again tomorrow, in which case I might keep them longer...
Goss & Keukeleire
Viviani & Wurf
Cav
Nizzolo
Dekker
Zandio
Visconti
I see my thread for today was discarded. Charming!![2](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/2.gif)
Nice little segway....maybe livestrongnick got the thread as he's higher on GC!!![16](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/16.gif)
I noticed obutterwick's thread but chris had already started on this one, so seemed wise to continue with Terrs
If i'm this high up in the GC by the end of week i'll be very shocked![13](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/13.gif)
In which case can I make a point.
If you were to be able to arrange your team to try to predict 1,2,3,4 and then 5 and put two members in each of your first four and then one in the fifth team and you were correct, (possible but unlikely) then across the line scores would total 20+18+16+14+6=74. However if you predicted 1,2,3,4,5 yesterday you would have got 132. This seems a little odd as each are equally as difficult. Plus yesterday you would also been guaranteed 1...5 in GC plus, plus etc.
Maybe for future comps it could be looked at. Maybe 20,15,12 for 1,2,3 and then 7...1.
Looking at the forum it seems a number of people have made no changes today to save four for tomorrow knowing that a bad day would only probably leave them about 50 in arrears, whereas a bad day yesterday would have left them 150+ in arrears.
Before you ask, no I haven't arranged my team like that, but the thought did cross my mind and yesterday was not great but not a disaster. I had Cav, Goss and Nizz with one eye on today
It's a good point and potentially something worth considering. At the minute TTTs are treated like rest days by a lot of people because no matter what happens you're not likely to lose too many points. That being said, if like me you don't have any Sky, Garmin, BMC or Movistar (my tip for today) riders in your team then you could easily lose a whole bunch of points.
Perhaps 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 might be a good compromise? It should in theory be fairly easy to pick two riders from each of the top few teams so you don't want to get in the realms of scoring 150+ points for this kind of stage.
Just to back this up.
The two people who finished =second today did so by having two riders each from sky, movistar and astana, which is picking 1,2,3 but scored a total of 86. Picking 1,2,3 on any other stage, just for crossing the line would have been 90, apart from any extras. Sorry this is NOT a rest day, it is stage two, and anybody who adjusted their team for today (probably using 2 transfers) has not benefited from their skill, judgement or luck, and lost out to people who have saved their transfers until tomorrow, safe in the knowledge that even a total 'mare' today would have not lost them any real ground in the overall. Anybody who left this one to save transfers for tomorrow has a bit of an advantage (although nobody knows if it will all come together tomorrow or not).
I hear you on that Ray!
Am I right in assuming that the finish line points are 10 down to 1 for members of teams finishing 1st to 10th only and the 35...1 are not applicable
Correct, today will be a low scoring day!
won't be lower than the big fat zero for my purists yesterday!!
Ahh did not know that ruling, but im sure the teams would know, so I guess Sky would be right? so in that case I may be in with Phinney, but Nava would be Garmins choice over Haas anyway
I've been pretty bold and subbed out Viviani and Gavazzi(less bold) for Navardauskas and Wurf.
I expect Wurf to be in a few breaks and to go for early KOM pts and Navardauskas to be in pink tonight(I said it elsewhere just after he was named in the squad-he did the same last season).Gavazzi's team is not exactly noted for it's skills against the clock AND he crashed yesterday.I also doubt that Cannondale will do well enough for Viviani to hold anything but the 4pts for 2nd in the sprints competition tonight.
Garmin,Sky,Greenedge,Radioshack and Movistar are my idea of top 5.
It's been widely accepted that the first finisher from yesterday would take pink for the leading team if there are equal times within that team......but then I read that SKY would nominate Cataldo to cross the line first and so take pink if SKY were to win by 20secs plus even though Wiggo was SKY's first finisher yesterday?
Anyone know the ruling for sure?
Actually I've just seen that in fact Puccio is highest on GC for SKY........happy days he's in my standards!!![4](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/4.gif)
Made 2 changes giving me 1 from Sky,BMC,Garmin,Greenedge,OPQ,LIQ,RSN,Lam,FDJ
Not gonna get 2nd on stage today i dont think some how
I'm thinking Greenedge in pink followed by garmin then sky!![39](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/39.gif)
Technical course, and I'm assuming small time gaps, so difficult to predict, and with little reward compared to a road stage. Similar to you TER - my team yesterday had one eye on today, hence going for Nizzolo and Goss over Bouhanni and Degenkolb, for example.
I don't expect much today though, an Orica win would be nice, and Cannondale to overperform too, as I have 2 riders from each. Zandio and Dekker in specifically for today and will probably lose them tomorrow.
