Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

The Oxford shark house now lives on as an Airbnb

Linda from Exeter gave it 4 stars in October 2021 because the bathroom smelt of fish.

Brighton Argus/ Crawley The scene of the crime as far as the Google car has gone. Ordinary suburban roads.

I assume this was a failed turn at the end of a hammerhead.

Is it a particularly twisty turny tunnel, lots of junctions and bad sight lines...?

Not at all. I think it is Pen-y-Clip [street view], the second westbound tunnel, opened in the early 1990s. There was a 50 mph limit in both tunnels for a while but I think this was lifted some time ago.

Driver breathalysed on the M60 was more than twice the limit after crashing into a barrier last weekend.

Actual scenes from the Pen-y-Clip tunnel - Indy has overstatayed his parking by 12 minutes and TP Parking Solutions are out to collect their £120 (discounted to £60 if paid within 14 days).

I guess now it's a write-off, he needn't apply for that VED we're always being told we should all have.

Derby garage crash : It's nice to see how concerned the driver is for his passengers' well-being.

Here you go, Aviva "hello, I've crashed into someone's garage"

Five miles upstream from Aberdaron, "I could have sworn I left it here - it can't just vanish"
If you listen carefully, the incoming tide seems to be saying "hold my beer, hold my beer"

As regards this 'No VED from 1st August': DVLA has a problem at the moment. I have come across numerous similar vehicles - too much even for MOT/ VED/ insurance evaders paradise Lancashire. So DVLA is not able to cope with posting accurate data on recently paid up VED

A Zonda 760LH supercar was wrecked in an A55 tunnel on Tuesday by an idiot with a micro-penis and far too much money. Apparently exotic Italian car manufacturer Pagani built it as a one-off for Lewis Hamilton. Toys like that don't belong on the roads (and neither does the driver).

Meanwhile in Aberdaron, a Landy wankpanzer gets stuck (and wrecked) on the beach.

I was driving out towards Wellesbourne one Sunday morning and a Lambourgini driver had managed to stick his supercar into a hedge on a 50mph road. Judging by where it ended up, I doubt it was excessive speed, just losing grip on what might have been a damp road. People seem to be under the impression that light cars with wide tyres have amazing grip at low speeds. A mate drove his partner's Porsche and managed to lose control on an M42 slip road at Tamworth - a slight curve and of course, locally a Porsche driver killed a cyclist spinning off a road at about 60mph in a 40.

As you say, performance cars should not be road legal in the UK. Indeed, I'd make a case for all cars to be chipped to constrain performance on road to 0-60 in 10 seconds or even less and maximum of 70mph. Give me one good reason why a car owned by a member of the public should be allowed to exceed the national speed limit?

"I need to be able to go faster than the speed limit in case need to avoid an accident. You can trust me, I am a good driver who hasn't been asked to prove that I can still cut it 38 years since I took my test.... oh, and I drive a BMW so I am a good driver."

That's what I would say if I was a berk.

Oh and you think cars can get from 0-60 quickly currently... the new EV I've just looked at (a Smart #1) can do that in 3.5 second...! For a reasonably cheap car (when compared with supercars of course: £40 k is a little bit more than pocket change for most) that stupidly fast.

Community order for drink-driving teenager Taylor Jonathan Bradley, who crashed his friend's Merc into hotel gates near Llandrindod Wells last November:

https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/crime/2023/06/25/drink-driving-teen-...

Banned from driving for 12 months for the aggravated vehicle taking and 16 months for drink-driving. "There was no separate penalty for driving without a licence or insurance but his licence will be endorsed" - I'd say he got off lightly.
