Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

8pm on Monday evening a convertible (BMW I think) smashed into the front room of a bungalow on Princess Drive, a residential street in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. A 67 year old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. Some striking photographs of the damage.

Another of those rascally self aware cars putting its passengers at risk. Maybe this one was after a copy of the highway code?

I was watching this weeks UK Dashcams and came across this one at 5:30 that looked familiar.

(edit 8:22 is funny though, and 9:51 is another submission for here.).

an awful lot of upside down cars in my local news today.

when they say 'flipped', do they mean driving it, or man-handling it?

It galls me particularly when ambulance crews have to waste time with antics like this when:  https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/19685735.south-central-ambulance-servic...

Looks like a fishtailing caravan to me. I always wonder if you get billed for any of the hassle and work this sort of thing causes.

Fortunately no one injured, but theres actually a youtube live ferry cam linked from the Daily Echo you could watch (theyll hit YouTube 12hr limit on streams and lose it probably) somehow the truck turned and the rear of the container just side swipes the building, which collapses.

But why are there so many trucks going to the Isle of Wight ? it hadnt struck me as the kind of place that can cope with vehicles that size

Alternatively with the second one, might have been going straight and suddenly swerved to avoid a car that had pulled out. Although if that was the case, I'm sure it might have been mentioned.

I do wonder how many of these drivers crashing into buildings etc actually get investigated and charged for their driving at the time. Of course the drunk/ drugs etc ones do, but surely driving in a way that hits a building when nothing mechanically is wrong is really screaming careless.

Car 'obstructing' pavement in Fordingbridge had expired MOT

how bad does it have to get before anything is done?

Why do we have to cite vulnerable groups to appeal to any ounce of compassion or shame drivers like this might have?

I wonder what the fine was for?

No MoT = no insurance and no Car Tax, should have been recovered & destroyed surely.

More motorised mess for the emergency services to clear up. Addenbrooks had a triage tent running around this time and we all know how stretched the ambulance services are.

still, [insert picture of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka] let's talk all about road tax, etc for cyclists.

I'd much prefer it if the f*cker was named and shamed - if for no other reason than people could shop him if he drives while banned

When people can't be named for legal reasons, usually it means they will be back in court on other charges and naming them might prejudice the trial.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8.10pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car that had collided with a building on Princess Drive, Bridgnorth. One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

Begs the question is it a ROAD traffic collision when it is in the front room of a bungalow.

Also

A woman, who was in the building was also assessed at the scene, she was discharged on scene with self care advice

"Get some warm clothes on as it is going to be a cold night. "
