Irate fisherman claimed responsibility.
Its Wash Lane again https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/24108764.wash-lane-combs-ford-near-stowmarke...
I rode it last week actually, you have to be several levels of insane to think it's a good route when the water level is even low, when it's that high as in the news article, what on earth are you thinking?
Just to be clear this is literally just a cut through on two parallel roads that join up with each other less than 1km further on.
At least the mystery of Marie Antoinette's descendants has now been solved. They ended up in Accrington! Pedestrians have no crossings? Let them drive!
'Unrest' in village stops roadworks amid 'serious safety' concerns
Big fuss about what is obviously not a 'serious safety concern', yet when there is one the police do nothing for months and years. This pickup is outside the pub 100 yards from Garstang Police Station yet again tonight
People get into a mindset that the way to address issues of GP appointments and school places is to oppose all development; the same with "our roads won't cope" gridlock.Â
They've actually turned on the cameras here now, so the Daily Echo is going nuts. I read it for the horror show that is the comments section.
I didn't read back far enough - didn't realise you'd already put this story up.
Not even so much as a leaflet drop.Â
Southampton Spring Road crash leaves Audi on top of BMW
Good news! Two of them removed in one efficient collision.
Plans to charge at Little Oystersâ free car park in Minster on Sheppey could âput people offâ visiting seafront
âWhen something has been free for so long youâre going to upset people. It will put people off who will find ways around it by parking on the street - itâs just human nature.

Â
how about, drivers, you reflect that you've had a good run down the years with getting land / coastal land dedicated to your pretty much exclusive use you on the rates?  If you can meet the costs of running a car, I'm pretty sure you can also afford to park it.Â
At least the horn is not working, that's something to be thankful for!
as if building houses will bring more people into existence, the people are here already, they are just crowded into inadequate accomodation.
Let me guess:
"I've been driving down there since 1943, ten years before I was born, and no one has stopped me before"
"It's now going to cost me ÂŁ70 more a day to drive to work"
"Freddie Star ate my hamster and it's all because I can't drive down Portland Terrace."
Fella's got to earn a living.Â
On a more serious note, how did people cope when Westquay was being built? I'm guessing Portland Terrace was closed for a quite a while to drop the height of the road and to put the building on top

council accused of "cloak and dagger" tactics as cameras catch 37 drivers violating new traffic signs in first hour of operation

What is the world coming to? the council want to control every aspect of our lives and to take away all our cars by 2030

Cars drive almost everyone into transport poverty, one way or another. Â
Too poor? You don't even get to play. Suck it up.Â
Low/middle income? Sacrifice too much of your money to sit in queues
middle income? sit in queues or wfhÂ
high income - private jet/ helicopter or chauffeur while you sit in the queues you couldn't avoidÂ
to function at any level, the system relies on the poorest being completely exluded and then does next to nothing to help themÂ
"Thereâs loads of people being hit."
But only with fines, not by large fast vehicles with a literal ton or so of momentum. And only for things they chose to do - though they probably don't realise it was a choice...
On which - as a nation we need to talk about linking push and pull - or "discouraging (a) but offering alternatives b, c and d". If you've the UK's problem of several generations of planned motornormativity ("planned" by eg. blocking, defunding or removing other modes) just sticking penalties or taxes on something may not be enough to change behaviour. It may just create enough resentment to get it undone. Equally we're rubbish at "pull" eg. actually offering useful alternatives.

possible successor to Rufford ford?
There was indeed at least one totalled Audi!
It's been in business for the past 26 years, and in that time has gained a strong following of loyal customers - some of whom travel from the likes of Clitheroe and Preston to dine at the restaurant.
my emphasisÂ
In 2022 there were 13 flights between Farnborough and Blackbush. It's 5 miles.
Greta was in Farnborough at the weekend.
Homer to Bart: "a driver being hit with a fine is worse because it has happened to them. Â Being hit by a car happens to someone else."
I measured on Google maps, 45 spots = 354 ft = 108 m, so 7'-10.4" or 2.4 m per spot, which is exactly the number given by British Parking as the normal dimensions.

Hampshire country road closed due to icy conditions
Poles Lane will be shut for 24 hours until Friday, January 19.
Motorists are asked to use alternative routes while the closure is in place.
In a post on Facebook, Winchester police said: "A road closure is in place for Poles Lane in Otterbourne for 24 hours due to icy conditions. Access only from Hursely to Silkstead Farm.
"Please plan your journey ahead and take an alternative route."
https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/24058900.hampshire-country-road-closed-...
This is a new one on me, I think - police closing a road simply because of the ice.Â
