Have we had this yet?

Four years is hardly sufficient. The Police should now explore whether they can find evidence against those these pair "helped" and if so, bring charges against them.... yes, I know, a funny from Ian. The Police actually taking traffic offenses seriously..... as if.
This is quite the family day out - a 45-50 mile round trip in two cars, an hour+ in Asda.

Staffordshire villagers 'ask drivers nicely' to stop speeding.
BBC News in Weston-under-Lizard, on the old A5 route east of Telford.
So laws are not enough, we have to stand at the side of the road and beg people to slow down a bit. I'd prefer a flashing sign that says 'Slow down or you get a brick through your windscreen'. Happy to do my bit and stand there holding the brick.
Not far away on the A518 in Telford, 2 speed cameras at Trench Lock Interchange in Telford have captured nearly 12,000 speeding shitheads during 2023.

Edited to add some more Shropshire Star news: No rest for emergency services on Christmas Day - a car flipped on the B5476 near Whitchurch at about 6pm. Earlier in the day paramedics and a fire crew were required after a single occupant vehicle left the A41 near Hinstock at around 4pm, crashing through a fence, narrowly missing a telegraph pole and coming to rest against a garage. The dickhead driver thankfully only had minor injuries.

Mid Kent Shopping Centre in Allington slammed for charging shop staff £50 a month for parking
strong "poor little me" vibe from drivers here and I'm not sure I understand where the Green is coming from here - seems to jump on the "it's so unfair" bandwagon

Council owed £120,000 by fine evading drivers
This story is interesting because of the table included - drivers always make out that they've been slapped with a fine and that The Terminator will come after them until it's paid.
The "council pockets" in the sub headline grinds my gears too. If you look at the amount of fines collected, the total "pocketed" is £370,160.

ASDA car park in the news again:
The incident involved a black Honda Jazz. One of the pedestrians, a woman from Cambridge, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital while the other, a man in his 70s, suffered minor injuries.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "The driver of the Honda Jazz, a man in his 80s, from Cambridge, stayed at the scene and is helping with officers with their inquiries.

Potholes are annoying but to say I had no choice is a bit daft. Could have gone slower for one.

Frostenden drink driver, 73, had taken cat to be put down
Mrs Rushmere said she did not want to be considered for a drink driving rehabilitation course, as she had been considering giving up driving before this incident occurred.
“I don’t enjoy driving anymore. The roads are not for the elderly,” she said.

Poor little me - anything to distract from the drink-driving.

Hi viz - check, helmet - check. What more do you want, drivers?
I think the next-most galling bit is the way the silver car passes the incident, it's 99.99% that they saw it, and drives on.
The Private Eye roads column made this point before Christmas, we're building roads and bridges, etc that we don't have the resources to maintain in the future.

Multimillion-pound improvements to a busy motorway junction have made no difference, unhappy residents claim.
People living close to the junction 10 roundabout, on the M6 in Walsall, said they believed a £78m scheme to cut congestion had been a waste of money.
"They have not achieved anything other than making four lanes on a roundabout that still get clogged up anyway."

Driver who caused crash claimed car keys stolen in mugging
Michael Bond, 29, reported the keys to his Audi had been stolen when he was the victim of a street robbery in King’s Lynn.
Matt Diss, mitigating, said he had been injured in another road accident two months before and had subsequently contracted meningitis that had caused memory loss.
“In the last 12 months the impact of this has been huge and speaks to his state of mind at the time,” he said.

Not all bad news then! At least there's 1 fewer of those dangerous nutter self-driving vehicles 'on the road'.
The Good Place, a TV show. I think. A forking good sitcom.
Demonstrating that at least 79 people think that road signs are for other people...
I like the way they say, 'Warning - the image further down this story contains offensive language,' when it's the same image as at the top of the article. I was looking forward to seeing some much worse language, given that there was no warning about the original image.
Not far away on the A518 in Telford, 2 speed cameras at Trench Lock Interchange in Telford have captured nearly 12,000 speeding shitheads during 2023.
I'll be using Trench Lock in a couple of hours on the way to my MIL..... not my idea. I won't be speeding (I got my first and so far only speeding ticket a mile from their in Hadley, just after they had changed the road by the old football ground...GKN Sankey FC... from a 40 to a 30. It taught me a lession!)
The point of this post is to comment: "Only 12 000....?" People use it like a race track in order to get into the A442 towards the town cente. Time to double the number of camera and increase the fines!
Ah, the "I've got no choice" driver refrain.
