Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

the bridges at Manningtree and Needham Market are forever being hit and cause delays to the trains as Network Rail have to assess the damage, but this was a new one this week https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/van-stuck-under-railway-bridge-in-pound-hill...

but even higher bridges struggle to avoid collisions when youve got a van on to top deck of a vehicle transporter

https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/news/bramford-road-ipswich-car-transporter...

and finally car ends up in a garden, youd have thought at some point they might have tried using the brakes having shot across a very wide road, pavement and then into the garden https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/news/car-crashes-into-garden-in-woodbridge...

I'd like to add Hawk's Bridge in Ely to this list: https://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/local-news/cambridgeshires-most-ba...

Maybe it should have been more visible?

That bekki fairley one is insane.
If I lived nearby, I'd be up there stopping them.

A 2-car collision on A49 in Hadnall (30 mph limit), near Shrewsbury on last month. I know this road well, no excuses.

https://twitter.com/OPUShropshire/status/1293631605286871046

No buildings involved but 4 days later this incompetent idiot lost control in the wet, rolled their car down a bank on the A5.

The railway bridge by Shrewsbury station has had its share of stuck lorries over the years.

This is from a few years ago. If my average speed had been a smidge quicker, I would have been stood exactly where the car is. Saved by being a bit unfit.

Call me superstitious, but I don't use that crossing anymore!

There's a bridge in Romsey that has been hit more than 20 times:

I liked the contrast between the rather hum-drum backland location and the "exotic" car - one of the commenters on the article has it right - where are you going to go on the IoW?

I see from the picture that neither the wall or telephone pole chose to be wearing Hi Viz.

There's the problem...

Mandatory training, registration, taxation and insurance for walls and telegraph poles and this sort of thing would NEVER happen...

It's high time that these obstructions that just hold up the traffic were removed from our streets - the schools go back in a few days' time, what will it be like then??
Bet they didn't have lights either. I mean, it's a RED CAR, did neither of them see him coming?

Free-flowing roads have been gridlocked since the arrival of pop-up telegraph poles and walls. Where was the consultation?

Agreed- hence the oath that must be uttered by those hoping to be admitted to the BMW True Owner's Club: "Could save 10 seconds on the journey, knock that hospital* down"

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/18667889.van-gets-stuck-hedge-end-burge...

"A VAN driver has 'wiped out' a serving hatch at a Hampshire fast food restaurant as he drove the 'wrong way' down the drive-thru.

A witness has described the moment he saw a van drive the wrong way through the drive-thru at Burger King in Hedge End, 'wiping out' one of the serving hatches and damaging his own van."

Imagine the dire consequences of allowing bikes in!!

Does anyone else see signs for "Drivethru" fast food joints and think "Great, can I borrow a Challenger tank and do the job properly?"
