They need to encourage active travel as in the famous Australian lion safari park: "Car with up to five people: $20. Poms on bicycles: free admittance."

One of the local fb communities had some guy kick off about roadworks at a junction being war on motorists. I pointed out that a stretch of grass and the pavement on two of the roads was being sacrificed to create a filter lane on them. He wasn't having it. Apparently it is a secret attack.

Poor man - I think drivers with visual impairments should also be given more leeway with speeding offenses as they may not be able to read their speedo or the signs.  Same with traffic lights, and ...

I thought it was the same one as last week - "poor car", I thought, "it has only just got over its last accident".  It's a different one though so must be the occult effects of the Bristol triangle, or the road or something.

Probably something to do with the balloon festival. The predatory autonomous vehicles are trying to snatch low-flying balloons out of the sky.

'Ere, that seems to be Hambini excitedly greeting his hairdresser! He seems ready to ream something, anyway.

Paignton’s multi-coloured Golden Mile leaves traders seeing red

You're trying to please these people why - update

I imagine the Betty Boop figurines and cap guns would fly off the shelves at one time - people would pull up outside, the kids would be given a £1 to spend, "bang! you're dead, Grandpa" happy days.

The Met's Inspector Ray Jones told the Mail: "Specialist officers are investigating this collision and, whilst it would not be appropriate to speculate about the cause, colleagues are keen to hear from witnesses who can corroborate that the tree had no lights on."

Concerns over slip and slide off A31 near Wimborne

You can't have fun because cars: 'Said a Pamphill resident: “These problems were also apparent when the slide was open last year and I was disappointed to see that it was happening again, this journey is busy, lengthy and hazardous enough without extra factors adding to the problems.'

Or

“This slide is absolutely NOT a distraction. People complaining about this need to get a life and stop being fun sponges [new phrase unlocked]. It’s a temporary thing for the summer.

"Look ahead when driving on the road, it’s not difficult. If you are easily distracted then you should not have a driving licence.

1,800 drivers caught speeding on Devon link road in 6 hours

Quote:

Devon and Cornwall Police has issued a plea for motorists to slow down on a 40mph stretch of the A380 Torbay Link Road after carrying out a speed detection operation there.

Hmmmm, maybe they could issue fines and points instead of pleas...

Florence Pugh’s father hits out at low traffic neighbourhood scheme as his cafe closes

I might be wrong but I assume that, for an LTN to impact on a cafe, they must be have had a high level of cars stopping and therefore there must be available parking. I don't know this area and so this comes from Google but the roads surrounding the café appear to be permit holders only (therefore the customers can't stop there). There are four spaces for 30 minutes parking on the main road, but they're not going to be sufficient for the café (and aren't impacted by the LTN). The nearest road which may provide parking and has an LTN is Temple Street, but if you're lazy enough to not want to drive the two minutes to go to the other side of the bollard, you would probably be too lazy to walk the one minute from there to the café.

To me, due to the lack of parking in the area, I can't see how the LTN has had a negative impact on the café.

Bedford motorist with long item poking out of car not 'acceptable'

I'm not sure what the problem is, they didn't actually kill anyone and, if they had, it would only have been cyclists and pedestrians.

All together, now:

Just the good ol' boys

Never meaning no harm

Beats all you never saw, been in trouble with the law

Since the day they was born

Straightening the curves, flattening the hills

Someday the mountain might get 'em but the law never will

Making their way, the only way they know how

That's just a little bit more than the law will allow

Just the good ol' boys, wouldn't change if they could

Fighting the system like two modern-day Robin Hoods

Milton Keynes councillor resigns after motoring conviction

I saw the headline and thought that, for once, a politician had done the honourable thing; been convicted of something and resigned. Then I read the article and the councillor was convicted of driving without due care and attention, on a provisional licence and without insurance (caught after crashing into another car) in May but only resigned recently as the local newspaper reported it.
