Two black SUV drivers who saw the No Entry signs at Dunquin saying 'Route for Pedestrians & Sheep only' & decided it didn't apply to them, one burnt out their clutch trying to reverse up before getting rescued by tractor

Bloody sheep, why should they have their own expensive road, bet those flocks don't even have to pass a droving test...

Chapeau to the tractor driver there though; that looks like a tow-er de force.

Unless I messed up (Google Maps has no specific entry for Treneer(e) housing estate), it is just over a mile walk on minor roads with pavements to the beach from there.

Just give free parking to the actually disabled.

That is horrendous! The sentence is not appropriate, six months suspended sentence and 100 community hours. No mention of any driving ban or points. I hope that sentence is appealed because it's appalling.

I once got overtaken by a sports car driven by a sheep in a tight swimsuit.

It was a lamb-bikini

I was reading a book (cannot remember which one, I've been reading a lot more again lately).  Anyway, the author claimed that 40-50 years ago, 80% of the population walked 8 miles per day.  Now, 80% of the population walk less than 1 mile per day.  If you say that it's "Just over a mile walk on minor roads with pavements", many people nowadays will hear you saying "It's an easy walk - you just walk barefoot on broken glass for ten miles and then you're there!"

She supports the local hunt.  It is not beyond the realms of possibility that the judge or magistrate also rides along with the same hunt...

I was overtaken by a French snail speeding in a sports car with a massive letter S on the side.  I thought - look at that S car go.

From a bit of googling, I think it is the bit around here: https://goo.gl/maps/bAV1XBV4f5oDwW9C7

Looking at the census data, I think the estate is split across multiple output areas, but roughly 30-40% of residents would appear to be in households with zero access to cars or vans.  (https://www.ons.gov.uk/census/maps/choropleth/housing/number-of-cars-or-...

Noel Gallagher fined for refusing to name driver

Musician Noel Gallagher must pay more than £1,000 for failing to tell police who was driving his Range Rover.

The 56-year-old former Oasis star, who cannot drive, was also handed six penalty points.

He refused to give information relating to the identification of a driver when required by magistrates earlier this week.

Listen Up, while the story might Fade Away, isn't this a greater issue here? D'You Know What I Mean? If a car can be registered to someone who doesn't hold a licence and doesn't intend to hold a licence, Some Might Say that there is a loophole which allows people to speed without it impacting on their licence. Whatever the outcome of this case, I think something needs to be done but i don't have The Masterplan

That's an outrageous avoidance of justice by the police officers involved. It's notable that the passenger didn't report it until the next day which would be so that the driver wouldn't get breathalysed. Both of those officers should be immediately suspended.

Surgeon caught speeding dodges road ban as it would have ‘life threatening’ consequences for patients

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/22674101/professor-caught-speeding-avoids-...

Quote:

Professor Chris Peach, 47, was facing a minimum six month ban under the totting up procedure after he was clocked exceeding the 70mph limit on a motorway.

But the married father of three successfully appealed to keep his licence under exceptional hardship rules by claiming that patients and colleagues would ''suffer'' if he was not able to drive to hospital during emergencies.

...

Stockport magistrates heard Peach who lives in Hale, near Altrincham, Cheshire, was caught on camera on July 22 last year driving his Land Rover Discovery at 89 mph between junctions 16 and 17 on the southbound section of the M5 near Tortworth, Gloucestershire.

And just to be clear, those emergencies: his defence explained that he's on call one night in 12 and on one weekend in 12 and taxis are apparently too unreliable and what if something like the Manchester Arena bombing happened and he couldn't get there because the taxi was delayed, m'lud?

(edited)

judge should have told him to book a travelodge room when on call with the money he saves by not running a car

Driver should be sacked as he is incapable of doing any police job and debatable what job he can do.
The other one is facing a misconduct hearing.

Sze-Ming Cheung was another utter failure of the force.

Won't be sacked. Worst case scenario for him is that he will be medically retired with early access to a gold plated pension.

I think it reads that the bobby 'can't be sacked', I'm sure there's some HR reason for this but I'm jiggered if I know it.

I just came here to post exactly the same story. Anyone who refuses to name an offending driver should be brought to court and made to repeat their refusal under oath, which would then place them in contempt of court, which then would mean that they would be detained in prison until they decided to change their mind. What the hell does multimillionaire Noel Gallagher care about a £1000 fine and six points when he doesn't even drive?

Police in "making up rules to suit themselves results in little censure from colleagues and zero punishment" shock.

It is outrageous, just can't get surprised about this.

Am I reading this right? No charges against the driver, because he can't remember it, but the passenger is facing charges?!
It seems to support the "deny, deny, deny" ethos that runs rampant these days.

Officers were called to Clingoe Hill, Colchester, after reports a car had crashed into a tree.

An onlooker ran to the 19-year-old driver’s assistance, offering for him to borrow their mobile phone.
The driver then fled the scene with the borrowed phone, but he failed to outsmart police officers who tracked him down using the phone’s technology.

A drunk driver who caused a head-on collision while driving the wrong way along a motorway has been spared jail.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-65670368

Denny was also given a 20-month suspended prison sentence and banned from driving for 10 years at a sentencing hearing on Friday.

Quite a long ban, so doubtful if she will drive again.

"Hi @DanielKorski - I sometimes cycle on main roads between 10pm and 7am, and sometimes cross them on foot. Any good tips as to how I could do that without traffic lights? Stay at home? Just hope for the best? Thanks."
