Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

I got drawn into the next story along: Driver 'appalled' after injured deer shot by police on M5

so much so that that had no other choice than to illegally use their phone to take a rubbish picture

So because drivers (consistently) can't look where they're going, the pedestrian path gets closed??

You would have thought the big red X and flashing lights that turned on as he approached might have been a clue...

More like this road's not big enough for a bike lane and cars because of flooding

Polluting and unhealthy.  We desperately need people to switch to driving their electric car to the garage for e-cigarettes.

Well, it needs repairs !!
Plus the risk of ksi looks a bit high.
Hopefully the new barriers will protect Peds whilst making sure a car is a write off.

but Id have been tempted to stick temporary barriers down the middle of the road to provide a safe route for pedestrians, with some temporary traffic lights, and thus give the crazy motorists who keep hitting the bridge the option of one lane only to get through, as maybe it will teach them to be more careful.

and I thought theyd fixed this bridge by putting a gigantic metal beam ahead of the bridge so you hit that instead, how are people still crashing into bits of it ?

I expect the flooding had something to do with it?

The footpath under the railway bridge at Needham Market has been closed after a barrier was smashed. https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/traffic/needham-market-bridge-footpath-close...

Such a strange decision, plenty of space for two groups to use this space safely.

Group a (pedestrians prove to have no problems with the infrastructure.

Group B (drivers) prove unable to drive through ample space, causing damage and putting the other group at risk.

Why are pedestrians banned from this facility instead of drivers? After all drivers can travel to the next crossing in much less time.

Turns out the tyre extinguishers were just trying to help prevent this by stopping the cars floating about.

It is only the footpath that is closed to pedestrians, they still have the right to walk on the roadway, perhaps some locals would like to go for a walk backwards and forwards under the bridge until someone realises how stupid it was to close the footpath!

It looks like the carpark is above the level of the caravans, so they drove through the bush and onto the top of the caravans

It's bad enough cycling it, I wouldnt walk on that road, or under the bridge, it's like the road runs parallel to the railway line and then right angles to pass under it both sides, so theres no sight line of whats within the confines of the under bridge bit, and because people are still in A14 driving mode or preparing to join A14, they tend to go in quickly and drift out of their lane.

That makes sense; I'd missed that...

Shock after Blackburn Road, Egerton four vehicle crash

As the lorry driver appears about 30 seconds in, I'm guessing it's not a medical episode.

Okay, this isn't car crashing into a building, but a lorry being wedged:

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/bristol-traffic-live-tesco-lorry-7072849

Nine hours!

//i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/article7073089.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/0_TescoLorry.jpg)

I like this description of it:

Quote:

This morning, this lorry driver left Avonmouth with a full load of groceries to be delivered to Tesco supermarkets around the Bristol area.

The driver found himself driving along Upper Cheltenham Place at around 7am, and decided to turn right down Brook Hill.

And that's where he remains.

I'm so tempted to go find it and tell the driver "You can't park that there!"
