Don't drive through floods and if you slow down a bit the damage to wheels and tyres by potholes are minimised.

Looks like that car can be had with 16", 17", or 18" wheels. Any bets on what she has? If she'd chosen the 215/65R16 size, she'd have spent less money, got a smoother ride, better fuel economy, and probably wouldn't have a damaged wheel. But then it wouldn't look as silly.

Looking at the photos of the alleged damage to her wheels… If she is that concerned about a small scratch to her alloys then she probably ought to leave that Qashqai at home.

I live in Carmarthenshire (though not in Llangadog) and we've got the same issue - ever since the 20mph thing came in, a bunch of petuant children - upset that they're no longer allowed to do 60mph through residential areas - sneak out at night to cut down all the speed signs. As some of the signs in the above story were 20mph signs, I'd imagine it's the same motivation (if not the same people).

It makes driving a bit stressful really, because they're cutting down speed signs and signs warning of things like tight corners, so you'll be driving through a posted 60mph limit and all of a sudden you'll drive past a 40mph repeater and then you're wondering how long you've been doing 20 over because they've cut down the large transitional signs. They're essentially tricking people into driving too quick for the conditions.

This is the case in Blaenwaun - it used to be that the whole Heol Shon was NSL, but now they've made Blaenwaun, and a stretch either side 40mph - except you can only tell this because they've missed one repeater on the SanClar side that lets you know you've been speeding through the whole village.

Oh yeah, I 100% agree - I’m one of the guys on here who bangs on about NSL usually meaning “remote” rather than “safe to drive at 60”.

But these are fairly straight, fairly wide roads with decent daylight visibility. The 40mph limit (which is new and came with the 20mph rollout) is, I think, more due to the likelihood of people walking in the road due to the accumulation of houses (“village” is probably a strong word). Of course, you wouldn’t know that unless you were a local - so the current experience is driving at an appropriate speed for an NSL road with good sightlines, only notice a 40 repeater (with no transitional signs before it) and wonder how long you’ve been speeding.
