Quote:

When told about the (12 months) ban, Hopkins pleaded: ‘Oh, please don’t. Where I live there are no shops. The nearest shop is over a mile away.’

If only she lived in a 15 minute neighbourhood. Although a mile probably comes within 15 minutes

I note that our council believes school transport is only needed for children whose closest school is over 3 miles away (even if they can't get a place at that school), so presumably adults can be expected to walk at least a mile and a half for a shop.

If only the cars weren't parked on the pavement this wouldn't be a problem.

Don't you mean:  "Oh, please don’t. Where I live there are no shops. The nearest shop is over a mile 😱😱😱 away."?

Numpty driver with no licence has vehicle seized after series of blunders

The driver had an expired provisional licence so should not have been on the road - and wasn't even being supervised

Another driving tragedy and another Coroner not grasping the bull by the horns, so we will learn nothing, take no meaningful preventative steps and it will be same time next week with yet another case.  Another journalist making you read quite a long way down before it eventually comes out what actually happened:

Josh Alexander and pregnant girlfriend Jessica Poole killed in crash in Woodchurch, near Ashford, where poorly marked crossroads ‘could have been factor’

"He is believed to have been checking one of these apps just before unwittingly driving his Vauxhall Corsa across the junction and into the path of an oncoming DAF skip lorry travelling along Bethersden Road.

PC Masterson described Josh as looking “calm” and “in control of the vehicle.”

PC Masterson added: “Josh failed to recognise he was approaching a junction.

“He interacts with a mobile phone immediately before entering Bethersden Road.

Bailiff demands £394 as couple's 2022 parking fine comes back to haunt them

Now Shaun and Joy Pickerill, from Fegg Hayes, have been given until 11 February to pay up

Heart attack victim Shaun, aged 64, said: “There were probably parking signs and meters but my wife made the basic assumption that it was free because it was the last time she’d visited. She put the parking ticket in the drawer at home and then forgot about it - I think she was probably too embarrassed to tell me about it at the time.

Blue badge Wayne, 58, lands £70 fine after parking in this Staffordshire street

Wayne Woolridge can now appeal to Stoke-on-Trent City Council

"You'd expect to see a sign saying 'loading area' next to the spot, but there wasn't one. "When I came back, I noticed a sign about 30 yards away in the opposite direction to the way I was walking."

Raglan Street car hits nurse but she keeps broken wing 😱 mirror

She added: "He started threatening me, waving his walking stick. I said 'why did you just drive off?' He said 'I wanted to get my newspaper'.

"I told him he had knocked into me and didn't stop.

"He said 'I'm old I can do what I like! There's no damage to your car'. I said 'but I have hurt my ankle and my arm'. He said 'I don't care - prove it. There are no witnesses'."

Mrs Ravenhill said she had got proof - his car registration and the car part which she said he demanded back.

"I said 'sorry, you're not getting your car part back. I'm going to hand it into the police. It's evidence'," she said.

She said: “I could not believe what I was hearing – I have been the victim of car theft, and I am now being charged [£192] just to get my car back.

“This is on top of the £3,000 worth of bollards, CCTV, steering locks, vehicle immobilisers and security lights we have bought to stop being a victim of theft again.

Great, but don't let this become an obstacle to a more extensive  roll-out of 20 mph. "It's OK outside schools" is a containment strategy by drivers.

'Crazy car parking permit rules' means Banbury motorist can't park outside his home

Am I missing something? They can't get two parking permits because both cars are registered to the husband and the leased car can only be registered in the husband's name. The council has said that they can have a second permit if they register one car in the wife's name. The husband says that they can't do that because they can't change the register keeper of the leased car. The car that doesn't have a permit is the car which is not leased. Surely the answer is to change the registered keeper on the non-leased car, get a second permit, park outside your home and not go to the newspaper?
