Satnav made me pay ulez fines
https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/23776329.norwich-mans-transport-lon...
I'm appealing these on the basis that it is a tax on the stupid which is against my human rights.
Meanwhile in NI the DfI is bumping up fees for MOT and Driving Test. The usual wails of anguish are predictable. Of course the decision is being challenged. https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/business/northern-ireland/revealed-ne...

Car driver and passenger are victims of alleged assault by pedestrian
Police are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault in Ceredigion. Officers said an altercation took place between two pedestrians and the driver and passenger of a white Volkswagen Tiguan SUV near Llanarth on Wednesday, August 23.
i wish every time a driver assaulted me with his car I could get this kind of police response. Victims my arse.

Livid tourist told to pay £100 fine despite proof he paid to park
Stuart Watson has been told to pay a parking charge notice (PCN) despite providing proof he paid all along

"He explained how on August 9 he parked in the car park and left the windows on his converted Volkswagon open for his pet labrador. His ticket then blew over because of the breeze."
that's if the poor thing survived being left in the car for how ever long - beach car parks aren't known for having a lot of shade, are they? Perhaps 9 August was one of those indifferent weather days? Dogs are banned from the beach during the day, so I start to wonder if you thought this through.

Fresh Exeter road blocks fury as angry locals slam hellish traffic
"What would have taken me a five minute journey to Heavitree now takes me 25 minutes through horrendous traffic"
When asked how she had found the scheme so far, Hayley Oldridge said: "Horrendous, because I live at the bottom of Wykes Road and everybody that would normally go up through Heavitree is turning around and there's so much congestion and cars hitting each other at the end of that road or they'll come zooming up Wykes Road. It's just moving a problem from one area to another.
"What would have taken me a five minute journey to Heavitree now takes me 25 minutes through horrendous traffic. How is that saving pollution? It's actually causing more pollution."

Parking charges to be introduced at Chatham Dockside
Radhe has lived in Chatham for the last 37 years and explained she’d be less inclined to come to Dockside if she had to pay for parking.
She said: “It’s a bad idea. It will discourage people from coming.”
Her friend, Helen, lives in France but was visiting dockside with Radhe for coffee and a catch-up.
She added: “We chose to come here for coffee today as we know it’s free to park here.
“We probably wouldn’t have if we knew we had to pay for parking. Business will suffer if they start charging for parking.
so your friend from France is over (ok so living in France doesn't make you a wealthy person per se) but you are driving somewhere for coffee.
does £1.25 for up to two hours' parking really mean that much to you?

The usual driver response on road noise issues is "don't live there then", so is there a corollary for drivers in 20 mph areas?
Anyway, scientists monitoring a bear breeding programme are recording "higher concentrations of droppings amongst the trees" reflecting the apparent success of the programme:

Elderly couple fuming over parking ticket for briefly pulling over at bus stop in Wye, Ashford
Mr Winchester added: “I understand if you break the law you have to face the consequences but I was two minutes at a stop where the bus only comes once an hour. It becomes rather a laughing matter.
“Where is the leeway? I don’t want this to happen to anyone else. This is unnecessary aggravation.”

Apparently, if you put in a lower speed limit, drivers will go twice the limit to show their frustration and cause even more devastating collisions so please do not lower limits. Or something like that.

Families stuck in 'nightmare' Devon road thrown lifeline
A petition was presented to Devon County Council calling for action over Kingsford Lane in Longdown near Exeter after residents said the surface had deteriorated to the point where they risk injury and serious damage to their cars.
One resident said: “We all feel that the council doesn’t care. The damage to our cars is constant and family and friends no longer want to come up the lane to visit us.”

I always find it weird when people who claim to be church-(chapel-)going Christians complain about their loved ones being disturbed and unable to sleep in their graves... I didn't think Christian theology teaches that the dead are just down there sleeping and grumbling.
That being said, I'm in no way defending building an access road and a car park on top of a graveyard.
(I suspect some of this comes down to the new Christian owners not thinking that the old Christian owners were 'proper' Christians, so it doesn't matter what they do to the heathens...).
We have a mobile speed van which sometimes hangs around here:
https://goo.gl/maps/xUCR7dehcAgRt5WDA
To catch the countless number of drivers going over 30mph. However, some anti social driver or other will flash the ongoing traffic to warn them of the camera ahead. While it does slow people down for just that one trip, it does not do what the traffic camera should do, fine them in order for them to learn to permanently
chnage their ways.
Anyone who flashes another drivers (careful now) to warn them of a speed camera should be fined too.
I would have thought it would have been much easier to get a parking enforcement company in to run the car park and thus, anyone who does not use the pub, gets a Parking Charge Notice, the "profits" of which, the pub can share.
We have a local pub which does just this. You simply tap your number into a tablet when entering the pub and that's it, free parking. Its so easy to do, no one moans anymore and problem solved.
I saw that earlier. Hilarious.
"Hey Siri, directions to my parked car"
"There are too many cars competing for too few spaces. It really is that simple."
And yet Andy has no solution other than "I should be able to park on *my* road"
Attempted murder.
If he'd tried that on a cyclist, maybe careless driving.
