Can't decide between "not exactly subtle" and " blimey, I can think of people whose discourse isn't far off this"; not being a watcher of this show, is it always like this?

Wouldn't work round me. Even as a pedestrian if you stand too still the movement sensors will cancel the request.

It's interesting to see that it's not only in Lancashire where moving traffic rules and regulations, especially those related to animals in the front of the vehicle, have been completely abandoned by the police

couldn't let today pass without commemorating the new 20 mph default speed limit in Wales.

Other nations, please copy.

A good level of compliance (many drivers doing well under 30, at least) was observed in and around Bangor on day 1.

Looking at towns I know well on the gov.wales map, I was surprised at how few roads were marked as 20 mph. The claim I've read that there is a 'blanket' 20 limit with a few exceptions appears to be untrue.

A lot of drivers don't want to understand that for the first time since cars were invented that this mild inconvenience isn't for their benefit - after all they've had carte blanche for decades - but mainly to make it safer for people who are not in a metal box. It's about time they begin to face up to the responsibility they have to other road users.

I vaguely remember watching a documentary about someone driving a tank down an American highway, while civilians tried to stop him using their cars and motorbikes.

Ah - is that a thing?  That explains a lot - there are some crossings I use as a pedestrian where I have to keep pressing or else it just cancels out.  Maybe I should use headphones and dance more...? yes

I was stopped at a light once, and a pedestrian, perhaps a bit OCD, was pressing the button about every second for over a minute.

Driver to 'withhold council tax' in protest at £180 pothole compo claim snub

Michael Meigh has had to shell out £180 to repair his Audi A3 after hitting a Smallthorne crater

The dad-of-five, from Smallthorne, said: "Duddell Road is like a little rat-run for people who know the back streets and it's not like it's not used often.

We're in a cost of living crisis at the end of the day and I need that money.

"I'm not going to let this drop and I'll take it to the small claims court if needs be. I just get wound up by it dragging on and on.

Dad punched driver to floor in brutal A34 road rage attack in front of his kids

Stephen Cartwright, 41, of Bentilee, has been spared jail at North Staffordshire Justice Centre

District Judge Ian Barnes said: "It was a needless and senseless incident. People often when they get into vehicles their personality seems to change.

"The independent witness saw the victim pull in front of your vehicle and he got out first. However, you got out and punched him.

"Clearly your frustration and anger got the better of you and you struck him with force. You did not need to get out of the car.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/09/01/tesla-model-3-breaks-down-salisbury-elon-musk-electric-cars/

Quote:

A Tesla has caused chaos for more than nine hours on an A-road after it broke down mid-turn and could not be moved.

The £60,000 electric car caused delays on the A36 near Salisbury after it failed and became stranded in the middle of the road.

A team of workmen was unable to physically move the white Tesla Model 3 Performance, which ran out of power and broke down mid-turn.

Motorists using the busy road, which connects Salisbury to Southampton, faced delays for up to nine hours as the broken down car had blocked the Lyndhurst Road junction.

The handbrakes of electric cars, and some other modern cars, are controlled electronically, unlike those of traditional petrol and diesel cars, which are mechanical. This means that the handbrake often locks when the power fails and the car cannot be pushed or towed.

'Selfish' 4x4 convoy slammed for parking on beach as children played

Anglesey Council said it will consider new beach barriers on the island if motorists affect public safety

"One vehicle had a boat trailer and rubber dinghy. According to witnesses the visitors stopped for a barbecue and left their litter behind. A woman said more vehicles were parked up further along the beach.

She was saddened to see the beach being used “like a car park”. On Facebook she said: “There were people there with children playing not expecting to have to look out for cars. I had to call my dog back to me as there was one driving towards her.

“It’s not great when we can’t feel safe on our local beaches. I felt angry and upset – I’m not a fan of selfish, inconsiderate, and self-entitled behaviour. I wouldn’t dream of driving onto a beach but it seems that some people think they can park wherever they want.”

Devon firefighters urge drivers to think where they park after squeezing through road

There was an incident in Barnstaple which crews found it difficult to get to due to parking (wot no LTN??)

Posting on Facebook, Barnstaple Fire Station said: "Last night we had an incident near Gloster Road, Barnstaple. It was very difficult to get through but the driver did a great job under pressure.

"This post is just to make you think when you park. Can an emergency vehicle fit through? We understand parking is difficult but please be mindful before you leave your vehicle."

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service website states: "You may be concerned about how people are parking in your local area and it stopping a fire engine from getting to your house.

"In these situations, it may be helpful to speak to those involved and highlight your concerns. You could also try contacting your local council or the police for advice.(Good luck with that - probably just results in a mouthful of abuse and/or more pavement parking.)
