sorry sorry sorry

There once was a man from Bonecastle

Who drove like an absolute arsehole

He flew round a curve

Into a wall he did swerve

And failed to deliver his parcel

Licence confiscated, lost his job and is being investigated on assault charges, the German authorities reacted quickly. The police here would still be debating about it and his firm would be "driver will be sent on a driver education course" Was it worth when you're paid per hour

Anxieties swirl after latest accident on 'terrifying' Leighton Buzzard road where there have been 50 accidents in 5 years

e-petition
“Local people are very concerned. I’ve travelled on this road daily for more than five years. It’s terrifying. Can someone please do something about this.”

response so far
It’s been acknowledged there have been about 50 personal injury accidents along this route from April 2016 to March 2022. Some of these incidents are because of common types of error, such as:

46 per cent or 23 of them involved failure to look properly;
24 per cent or 12 of these failure to judge another person’s speed or direction;
18 per cent or nine were caused by careless or reckless driving by someone in a hurry;
and 12 per cent or six were the result of a driver exceeding the speed limit.

EDIT - just added this up and realised its a full house. Drivers and their problems. WDIW?

Drivers and their ... solutions - "there aren't enough signs", "there are too many signs"

Driver overturns council bus lane fine due to 'unclear' signs

"The driver accepted that he drove through the gate but challenged whether information leading to it was adequate or not

Mr Dhillon admitted going through the bus gate, but said he "did not see the signs because they are not clear or easy to decipher with so much to look at in such a short time, especially when you are new to the area".

"In that previous hearing, the adjudicator said: "The round blue 'bus route only' signs are mounted against the bridge amidst a large quantity of other visual features (priority direction sign; restricted parking zone signs; yellow and black striping and height restriction triangle sign). The video shows the additional distraction of pedestrians walking to and fro under the bridge at the time of Mr S’s journey. The marking may well be shaded by the bridge and not sufficiently visible in time."

Mr "It's not in anyone's way" here is a new one on me, but this is a chance to revisit several "I'm prepared to go to court (prison in one case) over this" stories, many of which we've had on here. What cars do to people.

I get that it's a crappy operating model, but drivers and their constant bullshit, try-ons and whingeing have brought this on themselves.

Driver caught speeding at 100mph in Wiltshire claims electric car was 'running out of charge'

A Specialist Operations unit at Wiltshire Police tweeted a picture of a device recording 101mph.

The caption said "the driver of the electric vehicle stated they were in a rush to plug in for more charge they didn’t understand the faster you go the more juice the car uses!"

The force said: "A trip to court awaits where hopefully more common sense prevails. #Fatal5".

'Ignored' Bath street left with confusing road markings and curved parking spaces

The road has left people unhappy and confused

Currently, people on the south side of the street park with two wheels on the pavement, but the new parking bays denote spaces fully on the roads. Mr Fouracre said: “If they all park up to the lines we wouldn’t get anything down here.”

No BaNES, it really isn't about how many parked cars you can shoehorn in

https://metro.co.uk/2023/07/17/mercedes-smashes-into-back-of-lorry-at-hi...

Quote:

A spokesperson from Lancashire Police said: ‘As a responder, when you hear ‘car trapped under a lorry’, you prepare yourself for the worst.

‘This lorry was parked up in Rawtenstall with the driver soundly asleep in his cab when the Mercedes collided with the rear of it, becoming trapped underneath the tail mounted forklift.

‘Incredibly, the Mercedes driver suffered relatively minor injuries despite travelling at around 60mph (in a 40mph limit) when the collision occurred. He also passed all impairment tests.

‘The Mercedes driver has been reported to court for driving without due care and attention, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.’

All of the comments about it are saying how lucky the driver was etc etc.  Nothing about how f-ing stupid he was driving that fast and clearly not paying attention - on the whole, parked lorries are not difficult to spot...

'We can't use new drive because council put bollards in front of it - we're trapped'

TRAPPED I TELL YOU !

Then you read that they use a pedestrian crossing to go over the pavement to the house, failed to ask permission for anything and thought driving over a ped crossing was normal.

'Just Eat delivery driver' [rider] pictured in Clyde Tunnel cycling 'dangerously' close to car

A witness was concerned when he spotted the delivery driver riding his bike through the Clyde Tunnel with a Just Eat box strapped to his back last Friday night.

One concerned witness told Glasgow Live: "When I saw the delivery cyclist, I was surprised at first, almost couldn’t believe what I was seeing, then I thought what an idiot he’s going to hurt himself or a driver.

"And it didn’t look like a pleasant cycle. Poor guy.

"The cycle tunnel is right next door"

"AhHa! I'm a genius! I can drive my car up that banking and yell at him out the window."

Sad case of the family hit by the driver filming himself speeding down the motorway. The same driver who had already been in court for driving with no insurance a few years earlier AND even with that previous, just got a warning letter for street racing a few weeks before he murdered people.

The car he was in was "limited" at 155mph. Why are they not limited to 80mph tops? ( A little over the limit for supposed safety as drivers claim you sometimes need to be a bit faster for some reason).

Somerset drink driver found unresponsive at wheel of car (BBC)

At least they acknowledged that he was 'in charge of' his car...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-66199013

Quote:

A driver who was so drunk he remained unconscious while three police officers removed him from the car has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Andrew Reeve, 47, of Westonzoyland, was found in his Land Rover with the engine on, blocking the road on Fore Street, just before 18:00 BST on 3 June.

He later recorded a reading of 125mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath, 90mg over the legal limit of 35mg.

He was given an eight-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months.

Reeve, who pleaded guilty, was also disqualified from driving for 30 months and ordered to pay court costs and a victim surcharge.

why do we never get a photostory of a driver clutching  their police NIP or WL saying "what an outrage" and "I'm prepared to got to court over this" etc the same way as we do parking contravention letters?
